The State of the 'handlers' characters is just sad, it needs to be fixed.
-always tutorial monkeys/exposition monkeys
-always clumsy and need saving by the hunter
-always have the same two-five writing tropes. Often in a sad poorly written attempt to make them endearing. Capcom for our sanity, if you do nothing else, expand your writing chops.
-always hated by a good bit of the community since World and maybe the Game Before it.

Most of the time I find the actual character (IG: I mean the character in universe) harmless, but their implementation in the game is asinine and that's where 90% of the complaints come from. With a few people actually complaining about the character themselves. Also everyone's been hating on Alma, but how the heck is nobody raging about Erik? He literally only exists to go 'look at the leaves, look how cool they are' lol On top of being even more useless to the player character since he's not doing 'handler' duties like Alma.

Handler? Alma is the main character you're just her bodyguard (simp).

Wait, people play these types of game for the story? That’s like going to McDonalds for the atmosphere.

None of these games have a story beyond: monster is causing a problem, should we kill it?

Handler- Guild authorizes you to kill it.

Ok next monster, kill or not?

Handler- Kill it.

Next monster?

Handler- Oh capture that one.

Ok next monster?

Handler- Capture that one too.

Really? Have you seen the size of that thing?

Handler- Yea I’m just joking, kill it too.

Mate chill lol I'm not exactly asking for bloody Shakespeare here, just writing worth a damn. The Legend of Zelda series has similarly 'low effort' writing style yet it hits you with pretty solid character writing once in a blue moon. Zelda writing follows KISS logic (Keep it Simple Stupid) and I'm fairly certain MH could benefit from similar writing and still churn out some actually good characters now and then. Like I said, not even asking for anything groundbreaking, just something that doesn't make the fanbase want to gouge the NPC's eyes out after their first sentence.

You're blind if you aren't noticing capcom (Attempting to) add more 'serious' lore to MH.
The reason what we get is so badly done is cause they half ass it.

Then WHY DID CAPCOM SHOEHORN MORE STORY INTO THIS?

If they add a 5 dollar costume that makes her look like Guild Marm, I'll buy it.
Let me sex her, and dress her in something better than feminist rags
you're outing yourself as a fake fan by hinting that people hated the quest giver in the game before world.... that game had ALL of the quest givers from the series up till then lmao.

You're just a clown pretending to be a fan of the series to rile people up when you really don't know anything about the actual fanbase that has been here for 20 years.

You need to tell Capcom that. Most people here don't care for the story but Capcom was bent on delivering it.

Same.

Personally I dont see why people are hating on Alma, as someone playing MH since '04 shes great.

My only gripe with her is that she doesnt shut up. I dont need to be told to carve a small monster, or the tail, or to pick up fallen slinger ammo every 2-3 minutes. I've played this series for 15 years, I know what to do.

Understandable, but i personally blame the brainlets that are in the gaming scene now that dont pay attention to anything.....just something we are gonna have to deal with more and more in every game. Thankfully I'm old enough to not care too much and working more and more towards games that need more brainpower than physical reaction time and I wont see it as much.......emphasis on "as much"
As a fan since you used the right stick to attack - I love Alma. She's the actual first field agent and makes more sense than someone sitting back at base saying "hmm" every time you return.

That said, the story in Wilds isn't very good and mostly unnecessary. At least they put some effort into making the guild rep feel more organic to the experience rather than sitting behind a desk. I don't think anyone really had any issue with a guild rep until the Handler in World and even then, it was just a whole lot of silly whining. And who the heck had issues with Minoto and Hinoa?

Either way, this just seems like a silly thing to be upset about in a game about boss fights.

And you're a clown for thinking *everyone* in the audience wants the same thing.
Maybe it's time for the 'old guard' hunters to retire since nothing capcom will do in the new generation of games will appease them. Ya'll are worse than Gen 1-ers in pokemon. How dare the new fans desire something different.

Also I said it before, and I'll keep saying it till you clowns get it. I'm not asking for Shakespeare, just half decent characterization that makes the character you know, fun to be around? That doesn't seem to be an impossible ask for a series with such simplistic writing as MH. If The Legend of Zelda can pull it off then Capcom and MH can too, with a bit of elbow grease. I mean it's a 100+ Hour game, give the handler character a personality that won't make 90% of the fanbase hate them.
