You unlock later a mechanic which transforms crafting materials into upgrade materials. You do not want to miss that.
Please make sure to keep a good loadout all the time, which you can reset in two clicks, clearing your pouch inventory automatically while restocking your stuff.
サンキュー
knew loadouts existed but used them for weapons and armor. Appreciate you both!
Ah yes. That submenu is indeed hidden and I do not recall a tutorial for that. You just stumble upon it as newbie.
The longer you play, the more you will use it - as in: loadout for specific monsters, loadout for singleplay/multiplayer and so on (example: bringing flash bombs against flying enemies weak to it, while leaving flash bombs against those unaffected etc.)
To provide you an example of what I am using

When playing with gamepad, in that inventory window you press LS - then you get to the loadouts.
Once you have setup one - takes a while but it is absolutely worth it - every next time after every quest you just hit LS, load loadout, and your equipment will be restocked, while all collectibles you do not need will be stored in the item box.
Otherwise it is so annoying in having transferring every unneeded items manually after every freaking quest, considering it is easy to collect so much that every time the pouch gets full.
Give it a try and you will have never an issue with your usables
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. I have no beginner's guide for Wilds (and not planning to make one), but I still know very well how it feels as a beginner.
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers - as my teacher used to say.
