Second, its not iframe its Super Armor, just like GS`s Shoulder Tackle
Iai slash have some iframe, but less than spirit slash so it's harder to do it right. It also have super armor if you miss timing, but then you won't get any gauge stacks. Take into account that the frames of some attacks are bigger than the iframes from lai, so you'll get some damage and stack for gauge
Ideally, it's best to learn how to use both of them depending on how much time you have before the monster's next attack.
Iai definitely has iframes and I used it to counter a lot of attacks, including mass aoe.

Yes, people above right: iai slash doesn't have iframe, only super armor and buff for spirit gauge (not stack)
