Hey hunters, what's you thoughts about the charge blade changes in wh wilds?
I really dislike that now to saed you must perfect parry/guard point or to be in axe mode to do it(most of the times will miss in axe mode).
i dont understand why delevopers must take out the fun of the weapon and make it stiff.
The flashy gamestyle now missing,i dont really enjoy using charge blade now.
So in wilds i end up playing with other weapons to enjoy the game.
It's only me or there are ppl who dislike the changes?

oh its great, the weapon isn't a one trick anymore, you actually use axe form now.

rather then the kinda dull cycle of using sword from to get phials to burn them all instantly you now build phials to remain in axe form for a long time doing large amounts of damage with each attack.

remind me of striker form poke in gen ulti, but more fleshed out.

Same for me, i left CB to play Gunlance. But it's not only because of the SAED, it's the whole playstile of weapon that's boring af.
I hate it, but its much stronger than it was in World.

I only use CB, have about 1.3k hours on it in World/IB and around 350h in Rise. The reason why i mained it in the first place is the mechanic of playing in the SnS mode until the axe is charged, then unloading your load in axe mode. I like this idea, and i can't stand the idea of constantly staying in the clunky ass axe mode to spam savage axe that is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR overtuned when compared to SAED.

Its also dumb af how guard points are completely worthless now, which makes so little sense to me that its as if the developer doesn't understand wtf they're doing when the weapon is balanced in this way.

And i will never understand what kind of a dumb person thought that it was a good idea having to hold a button during the savage axe spam. I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hold circle on the dualsense while also having my thumb on the right analog to change the camera with the focus mode ffs. Seriously, people at the studio don't understand wtf they're doing out there.

Its not a one trick anymore. You're actually holding circle on the controller and spam one attack in axe mode. Not a one trick weapon at all, actually. Extremely skillful, and satisfying tbh.

Charge Blade is still the best of all weapons. Period.

If i have an itch to play CB I won't be playing it in Wilds.

instead of only using it to burn SAED's i can now axe and weave into sword to get guard points and then go right back to axe with another swap, actually using its mechanic as a switch based weapon.

i get to do my combos when i can or poke when i cant, rather then just waiting for "the moment" to burn them all instantly by sticking with sword mode for nearly the whole fight, which is lame

it feels pretty good to play, it's like a more polished version of rise's condensed spinning slash with world's savage axe's ability to morph back to sword mode without losing it, yeah not having easy access to SAED sucks but after spamming it so much on Sunbreak i don't mind it too much.

First of all, savage axe was already a thing before Wilds. It was simply not as broken overtuned. Secondly standard axe mode already had some use, which was against flying monsters. And now that savage axe is so much stronger, using SAED is completely worthless, and everyone is ignoring guard points like they don't exist. The weapon is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. They made it for mobile gamers.

It is so good in Wilds. Love it to bits. Hope they keep it as is, but MH is a series of change, so they're gonna do something different down the line.

One thing nobody notices is that even if having access to SAED was as easy as it was in World, SAED wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as the current savage axe, so what exactly is the reason for saed to stay with such a slow combo?

we do exactly the same thing, one blocks dodge heavy attacks into saed the other one just swith to sword mode to block and go back to savage axei find savage axe to boring to use that's why i drop cb in wilds.

im aware, in rise it was the pizza cutter, and gen ulti had poke, which i proivded as an example, bit lets not pretend SAED spam in rise wasn't meta with how easy the silkbind block->saed was, especially since it gave you an auto-5 phials each time.

it being "overtuned" does not mean anything to the point i was making, i wasn't talking numbers, i was talking mechanical useage.

saed isn't completely worthless, you can use it if you want, you are choosing not to.

and i brought up guard points, i bolded it for you

if you dislike it, thats fine, but you aren't gonna change my mind on the game providing a meaningful axe form being a good thing, it was a good thing when sunbreak added pizza cutter as well.
I retrained myself for the axe back in the World because it's hard to use SAED against end-game monsters. Windows for an attack are too small even with guard points, so I had to use an axe against raging braha, alatreon and fatalis.

But even in World it was better to use guard points for SAED, so almost no changes for me in Wilds. Perfect guard even is easier to do than guard point. But in multiplayer both the SAED and the axe are a headache now because monster running around and sometimes it's hard to get perfect block
