Entire PC locks up randomly playing
Kind of out of ideas at this point. Game will randomly lock up my entire PC forcing a hard shut down. Could be in 5 minutes or an hour. No BSODs or errors in event viewer and dumps aren't being made. Wilds seems to be the only game causing this.

I don't think it's my hardware because I spent all yesterday reseating and stress testing components. Even ran furmark + occt together and could not reproduce the system freeze.

Specs:
4090
12700k
32gb of RAM
1500w Corsair PSU

If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this, please let me know.

Are you using a Dualsense/PS4-5 controller via bluetooth?
Many reports these cause issues if not directly USB wired.

I ran the built in memtest in my BIOS overnight and the OCCT memory test and it passed both with no errors.

Yeah, I have a DS5. That's interesting. I guess I can try USB and see if it happens again.

I have almost EXACTLY the same setup as you do, including using a DS5 edge. I just started getting this hard freeze ♥♥♥♥ last week, but it's frustrating. My controller is plugged in via usbC though.

I begun having random freezes too, at first i thought its because of the game, usualy happend few minutes AFTER i shutdown the game ,
then it sometimes happened right on launch of the game, and few times when i haven't touched any game at all

i suspect it might have something to do with NVIDIA drivers

My entire PC freezes after an hour of playing this game too. Started on the 13th of March. Have to hard reset.
Memory is good. Updated literally every single driver, but still freezes. I play with a Dual Sense 5 Edge (wired).
Same here. Game worked perfectly before the last update.

switched from DSE to xbox controller and it stopped. dont even use DSE wired. went from 5 crashes in o row to a 5 hour session. its a steam controller api issue
I'll been having issues after i updated my Nvidia drivers, crashed twice.

This is what has been doing it for me.

Thought I was crazy. Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

I played for like an hour and didn't freeze or lockup, but that's not really long enough, I guess. I'll have to do more tests before I can really say it's fixed for sure. I also went ahead and disabled the bluetooth device entirely. I did notice that Windows Update updated my bluetooth driver 3/8/2025 which is around when I got my first hard crash.

I've also been facing crashes and/or pc BSOD hard crashes. I don't know anything about computers, mine is a pre-built pc. Just putting this out there in case someone can help me. cause I just got this pc last week and I am deadly afraid of it dying on me. Cause I did see some people talk about faulty PSU being the case of crashes in this game or BSOD. But I do Hope it's cause of the game. Cause most of the hard crashes are during or even after I have played Wilds. But I also rent and the landlord said the electricity lines only use max of 1500wats? and I'd have to contend of power if the other tenets are using a microwave or something and that could cause a hard pc crash (I assume). So I'm also worried if it's not the game but instead my problem. So throwing this out here does a PSU actually use the amount of wattage that is written on the side when powered on or does it goes up when performance asks for it? Again sorry if this is long text wall and doesn't have anything to do with the crashes. Thank you who ever takes the time to read this and help me.

4070 Super

Are you playing on a DS5 controller? These have been causing issues with lock ups and BSODs. Failing that disabling bluetooth has helped a lot of people.

If you're not one of those then I wish you the best of luck.
