then do it, tough guy
Allegedly eats elders. He has never actually been seen eating one. Ruiner nibbled on one that was already mostly dead, but other than that.... it seems like the narrative was completely off the mark. Nergi just lives in his little crystal home, never leaves unless the metal Raths steal his bedroom, and routinely gets beaten up by hunters because he is a weakling.
He is THE worst monster in the entire franchise.
I'd rather have a multihunt with 10 Bulldrome than ever see Nergigante again.
I still remember the first time I decided to try and follow him... except he didn't go anywhere. He just paced back and forth for a solid 30 minutes... and I got bored and killed him (I had my infinite barrel bombs mod on, so I just placed concentrated bombs all along his pacing path, completely surrounding it... then detonated them and killed him in one shot). Can I remember anything else? Well, the Archtempered version kept dive-bombing... but that didn't really bother me because I'm a gunner.
The ONLY good thing I'll say is that if Nergigante had just been Ruiner Nergi from the start, he would have been tolerable. The ability to actually SHOOT the spikes out makes a huge difference. I don't mind Ruiner so much. It is just base Nergi that basically just fails at everything.
The only way I could see Nergi work is if they make him a guardian. However, then there's the question of what purpose he would serve. What would ancient Wyveria use him for?
Again, if we accept the highly dubious claim that Nergi eats Elder Dragons, then a Guardian Nergi could be explained as having already cleared the region of Elder Dragons... Elder Dragons are ecosystem-destroyers, and for an ancient race that want to completely control their environment, they wouldn't want something like that coming along and messing everything up, so they'd probably have some sort of anti-dragon weapon on hand.... which would then have been decommissioned / put away when the dragons were no longer around.
... BUT I really don't want to give Crapcom an actual valid excuse to bring back the worst monster in the franchise.
Nah I'm enjoying fighting new-ish monsters. Got any more steam points to give tho?
