Crash fix that worked for me
I saw on a reddit post about someone suggesting to turn off cloud sync for MHWilds. I thought this was the dumbest thing ever but after playing the game flawlessly up until yesterday and now it is crashing every time I even try to ENTER the game, I decided to give it a try.

It worked for me.

I know that it won't work for everyone, but I suggest you attempt to disable cloud sync through right-clicking the title in your steam library, going to properties and finding it from there.

It's worth a shot!

It is indeed a recommended action, but I suspet there is more to it.

Better: make savegame backups, especially if you had that issue before. See here section: How to: Savegame Backup for details

Yeah, definitely back your stuff up. I tried every fix in all the major threads in steam discussions as well as on reddit, and a few fan sites and nothing worked for me except disabling cloud sync.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled probably five times in the last 24 hours.

I am surprised. Did you come across my suggestion to disable Steam cloud before?

I did, but it was under "performance" stuff which in my mind didn't connect. When I read the reddit post I referenced then I remembered seeing your performance suggestion and decided to give it a go!

I see. Thank you very much for your feedback. I appreciate it. :MHRISE_OK:

I guess that is one of the problems of my guide - I did not want to do another troubleshooting guide as I have done plenty of them. And most of the performance tips also address stuff which does not need to be troubleshooted if applied from the get go.

I wonder how I can write it better that people might consider the performance tips also as starting point for troubleshooting.

Yeah I figured this wouldn't solve all the problems, I truly hope you find something or that the next update comes soon and fixes it!

Check if you are affected by bluetooth or savegame issue. If not, share a DxDiag report and the crash report - preferably in your own thread.
With talk of people losing their saves.... i dunno if that is a good idea.

with talk of people losing their saves you should manually back it up anyways

True. But ironically I am recommending that action exactly because of that.

In the past Steam Cloud was the actual main culprit in causing the savegame corruptions in Monster Hunter: World and Monster Hunter Rise.

Nonetheless the backups every meow and then are more important.

And Monster Hunter Wilds even has that built in feature which is supposed to prevent the typical savegame corruption. But it still can happen under certain circumstances.

All we can do at the moment is risk reduction.
