People are achievement hunting and the best way to do it is to spot crowns with the binocs, save them as investigations, and trade them to others for the ones you need.
a) no item reveal
b) it is standard equipment for hunters, so you always have it from the start
c) there is an achievement for spotting to crown monster the first time with binoculars
d) we used to hunt monsters again and again by checking via guts and estimating if a monster is especially small or especially large - the chances for that are around 5% for such to occur, with the introduction of that new feature with Monster Hunter Wilds, it is the first installment which has that, crown hunting is easier than ever:
check all spawned monster without enganging, quick and easy thanks to seikret ride -> fight / save investigation if found -> rest to reset spawn -> share investigations with guaranteed crown monsters in multiplayer / trade, which you can do up to three times per monster
All that has made crown hunting, compared to previous installments, a joke. I cannot say it differently, considering how much of an achievement it used to be, compared to nowadays.
I do not even bother in making a guide for that anymore.
Large Monster Field Guide - there you can see an overview of the monsters and crowns.
The first Alpha Quest is fixed to spawn a crown for story purposes.
its very nice, this game is probably the only one in the series now where crown farming is actually a viable possibility for non-masochists
never heard anything about items or anything else, it doesnt even tell you about endemic life if you look at them through it, a missed opportunity imo
Host an arena investigation and see how many people join, now stare up at the cliff and watch what they do.
You will see them pull out their binoculars, scan the monster and leave if its not the crown they are seeking.
Now imagine that pattern with 10 randoms in a row doing the same thing.
Then you think to yourself why are they not doing this solo?
Because they abuse the fact that if they join others hunt it does not cost them resources, so they abuse it to no end.
