Guardian are just a missed opportunity.
They could have been something special, like having unique mechanic or monster we haven't seen in a while but nooooo we need another Rathalos.

Like we could have had Guardian Gammoth or Guardian Monoblos but instead we got (arguably) one of the worts fight in Iceborne back (Fulgur Anjanath), Odogaron who almost never use his dragon breath (you know, the reason he's called EBONY Odogaron?), Rathalos N°16, an early game monster that nobody care for and 2 fight that we cannot do again.

I know they will problably add new Guardian but i just feel like they really don't care anymore.

The Guardians have a mechanic. They powerup by absorbing Wylk from Wylk pools. You knock them out of their powerup by destroying wounds. Probably not too unique as it's another iteration of Frenzy/Hyper/Afflicted. They do have new moves that get powered up with explosions, so it's a step up from just speedups and slowdowns.

The Guardian Ebony Odogaron does have a dragon breath. It's just the one that he shoots downwards from the air.

Oh he does? i've never seen him doing it (probably because he dies in 2min).
guardian gammoth (gammoth in general) wouldn't be practical. the ruins of wyveria map kind of doesn't facilitate a monster that big navigating it very well, it's mostly narrow slopes and small openings.

i do think guardians have decent potential, but i think i'd also just prefer if we got returning monsters as... returning monsters? g. ebony and g. fulgur having their standard species completely missing makes the guardian variants feel really out of place and weird. i think the best way to utilize the concept of guardians would be to have monsters that realistically don't fit into other locales very well, if they're willing to do guardian elder dragons it could be a way to justify bringing back vaal hazak despite the standard species relying so heavily on the rotten vale, for instance. although even in that scenario they'd probably be better off just introducing blackveil vaal and putting it in the scarlet forest.

i thought the dumbest thing was that they were sposed to be human weapons and nothing came from it, surely they could have at least made the nata kid the custodian of the guardian bird variants that we saw in a few cut scenes changing the dynamic of being weapons to that of a companion or some such, that would have made his progression a lot more meaningful than what we got. also would have been an extra chase for players to get a guardian bird skin for their mount.

Elder Dragons should be ok since we have Zho Sia (or whatever his name is), who is 99.9% Elder, and yea seeing Fulgur and Ebony without their normal counterpart feel wrong (having Vaal be back would be Amazing i love him).

Oh he does? i've never seen him doing it (probably because he dies in 2min).

If you've never seen a Guardian power up/enrage ever, and are getting 2 minute or less kill times, you're using mods to cheat.

Cheating your damage then complaining the monsters is an odd thing to do.

I meant Odogaron, i've seen the powering thing plenty.
to be fair it's also just possible you didn't see it because odogaron is always outrunning the camera and refusing to stand still for more than a couple seconds. always been a hyperactive monster.

Apparently, depending on how many stars hunt has affects not only HP and damage, but also moveset now.
