Mizutsune
Is it just me or is it wierd that they are introducing Mizu in a title update rather than in the base game?

Mizu is a pretty easy monster, so its strange that we would fight him after gore and arkveld.
REALLY hope they just turbo buff him bc I want to be able to farm monsters other tempered gore/arkveld.

so does najarala.
Then I don't understand why they created a new classification for it.
can't speak for the devs but i'd have to imagine it came from the fact that najarala conceptually just doesn't really fit the "leviathan" vibe very well, it's a completely terrestrial creature and the way it moves and uses it's body is very different from leviathans. it doesn't do any variant of "swimming" either, which might be part of it. (it burrows, but it burrows more in the way diablos does, rather than "swimming" through sand like balahara or nibelsnarf do).

dalamadur being added at the same time makes me think that they intended at one point for snake-like features to be relegated to a specific body type/style of movement, but i think after the fact they realized that's kind of needlessly restrictive and abandoned it.

I'm super disappointed that they're leading with Mizu. It's kind of an easy/annoying fight with dumb looking armor.

Fine if they wanted to use that rig, but do Legaricus or something, don't just cherry pick one of the lamest monsters from Rise.

Merphistopelin would be really good for Wilds with his elemental absorbing, given turf wars and weather.

I'm also surprised the first addition is Mizu of all things, especially since it isn't a particularly difficult. I was hoping to see an older monster return, not something from literally the last game.

Hopefully his armor is decent and doesn't have that crap bubble dance skill again.

whats werid is the lack of endgame content, period and hoping this one monster is gonna help is shocking.

It wouldn't be so bad if armor sets actually had skills to justify building fun mixed sets, but like 95% of them are defensive or utility skills so we don't even have that. Heck I think even the guard skills are exclusive to weapons/weapon decos now too.

true
I just hope they don't do what they did with World where every update the new meta would just be whatever the new monster gives. If Mizutsune's armour and weapons are automatically superior to everything in the base game, I'm going to be rather irritated.

And do we know how long we'll need to wait for the patch after? Imagine the wait is like 3 months. We get Mizu in a game with zero endgame, and to get another monster, we'll have to wait a quarter of a year, replaying mizu a billion times because there's nothing else to do. This is depressing as ♥♥♥♥.
There's been a roadmap reveal (i forgor where) that said mizu was coming on spring along with more event quests and summer another monster with more event quests so on and so forth
Yea, saw it now. Mizu early April, and then we have to wait for summer (most certainly mid summer, otherwise they would've mentioned "early summer"). This blows.
MH encounters aren't 100% rehearsed/choreographed. There is random elements to the flow of the fight that requires you to have mechanical skill and awareness.

The monster doesn't do the exact same sequence of attacks and spacing every single time. You have to memorize movesets yes, but you can't really memorize every element, it's not choreographed like some fights in MMOs or other games. Depends on the game. RNG helps fights feel a bit more organic in nature.

It's simply not true. The new games do not require any mastery at all. They are far too lenient and forgiving. You can be lazy. It's designed for entry level players.

I went back to Gen U last week and been carting. It's a different game period.

Went back and fought Soulseer yesterday, as I am working toward getting EX Soulseer and being able to use the armor as layered armor in GU. I will second it being a very different game. Even when taking the G-rank difference into account I shouldn't be having such an easy time in Wilds. FFS I'm in mostly upgraded Ahtal-ka armor with a fully upgraded Ahtal-Ka gunlance (Best wide gunlance in MHGU, for those who didn't play such) and the random un-buffed Glavenus and Astalos in Soulseer LV.II hunts are giving me more of a fight and struggle than any monster in this game can give.
Even in GU though. Mizutsune has a problem of folding once you get one break on him, as he has a double head break and a double claw break on each claw. The claws cause flinches and breaking the head causes a full on knockdown stagger. They need to do something about that if they want him to be a harder fight. Soulseer gets away with this due to having higher part health from general Deviant health bloat, alongside a deadlier moveset making head breaks harder, but what chance will base Mizu have? We can't exactly slap Soulseer's 2x speed Zinogre flip into high rank, you know?
