First monster introduced will be easy, it will die just as quickly as everything else that isn't a tempered apex/arkveld, just like how the first events introduced couldn't have really picked easier monsters to fight other than the frog. I think it's an automatic given that minimum the next 3-4 events will be child's play as well. Probably the next title update monster as well.
It will be probably closer to the expansion release, probably when we start seeing trailers for it that hard events and monsters start coming out if they ever do. And this is a big if, might not happen.
i cant remember when the patched a new monster in on a lower lvl than we already have
yeah behavior and tuning is everything. i don't think many people realize how much more difficult the rathalos in wilds is compared to the rathalos in say mh1. ofc in mh1 you didn't have access to the same quality of amor/skills/movement/health/stamina/tools/mats/moves etc etc, however rathalos himself is leagues more challenging in this game than he was originally. all he used to do is run around on the ground, switching between a tail whip and a fireball attack. rathalos in this game is more like silver rathalos than he is the base version. except the original silver rathalos would spend half the battle spitting fireballs at you from a quarter mile distance, which was another level of annoying
I also hope we get Soulseer Mizutsune alongside the normal one so we have an actual difficult fight instead of "10 million years stunlock due to being made of double part breaks" base Mizu.
I'm not sure which gen they started doing it, maybe it was World, but monsters didn't always "lock on" to their target once the telegraph started. It's easy to notice with Arkveld.
I don’t recall saying I didn’t die.
I also don’t recall saying I was never challenged
There was a time when I played freedom unite and got bodied and quit freedom unite because I thought it was trash not worth playing(it still is to be clear. I highly recommend people skip freedom unite unless you just really really want to fight shen gaoren and yamatsukami that much) there was a time I played world and got bodied by anjanath in low rank.
However just because you found something difficult the first time you came to grips with it doesn’t mean it’s actually difficult. Like basic multiplication is not difficult but most children have to drill multiplication tables before you understand how to apply multiplication beyond those tables. Once you know the logic behind it 8x8 is easy. Once you know the logic behind monster hunter, low and high rank, and to a good extent g rank are also easy. The dance or click moment the monster hunter community loves to point out is the full comprehension of that logic. Once you know, you know.
Genuinely I urge anyone who is part of the “world is such a harder game” mindset actually go back and play world now that you know. I’ll be very surprised if anjanath walls you. You might have some difficulty adjusting to the controls of the old games at first, less reactive, more “don’t stand there” design philosophy but the dance is still incredibly similar. I have a hard time believing anyone who beat fatalis single player in world is going to struggle with anything pre-world especially just low and high rank. having personally replayed the series again, playing 3u for the first time even low and high rank have always been a breeze.
Meanwhile new players who have never played a monster game before pick up rise and wilds and can struggle. Insert infamous khezu streamer crash out from rise here. Then those people come to the boards looking for help and are driven away near immediately by “easiest game ever, you need to be in a coma to die” or “you wouldn’t last 2 seconds in world or earlier” obvious hyperbole but you get the point. I find that to be truely arrogant than just the community of returning players just actually admitting that the lack of difficulty they experience largely stems from their prior experience just like my lack of difficulty in replaying the series. No instead we have to act like crotchety old men telling the new generation about how back in our day it was just so different. We had to walk to the hunt uphill both ways and fight a high rank monster with yellow sharpness and we thanked Capcom for the experience.
