I think this game needs them. The events cat doesn't have enough and the rewards are garbage.
NEED MORE ARMOR SPHERES!

Kill stuff and smelt your spheres. It's faster than grinding for them directly. No need for bloated battle pass stile BS

They should have put the gold meld tickets on the weekly missions and not the dumb trades

If those missions are weeklies, they feel like dailies how quickly they are completed. Rewards are currently bad.

Would a battlepass really be so bad? I think it could work quite well for a game like MH.
Note: that wasn't the intent of the initial post. If I remember correctly, MHWorld had daily missions. I don't remember being starved for armor spheres in that game. And true, smelt will be the way to go for spheres atm.

Battle passes are terrible for all games.

World did not have dailies, it also had weeklies. The only time they were dailies was during the festivals.

I don't see how they're bad for either side, consumer or company. Can you elaborate why they are bad?

A person could argue FOMO for something like skins. If those skins were only available through the BP then I would agree. I would like to see a BP/store structure where skins are purchasable alone without requiring a BP at any time not just during that "season". BP should sold like Helldivers 2 and Halo Infinite, not expiring to cut down/out the FOMO and can be completed in the order the player desires.

BP are obviously a win for the dev/company but I don't see how they are bad for the consumer if they are correctly implemented.

They create a strong feeling of FOMO due to the punishment of simply not giving you the stuff you've paid for when you fail to meet the daily/weekly quota they've calculated. At this point it's not that much about playing the game anymore, but rather to work for it, so that you get your investment back.

Also in order to make the pass more interesting, it usually builds on top of people wanting to skip grinding, so there's a strong tendency towards making the grind for non-paying customers more annoying to begin with. Gacha games for example do that by introducing some sort of energy that slowly refills over time and thus heavily limits the amount of ressources you can gather, unless you pay to get these ressources directly (or by refilling your energy).

And it feels somewhat okayish if you play a game already knowing, that it has these predatory systems, because you could've decided otherwise if you're not ok with it, but if a 70€-game that doesn't have these systems introduce them later down the line feels pretty much like a scam, especially due to the implications from the first 2 paragraphes.

And as a little side problem it can also create dissonance in friends groups due to some players being capable to progress faster than others. It's not as prevalent in the MH series as of now, but be assured that they would try to make the ressources you gain from the BP actually matter, because that's usually the reason you sell BPs for: Giving players a headstart, so that they can feel superior to those who waste their time grinding for the stuff instead.

not really sure i would want missions that rely on a bunch of people doing them and having bloated hunt values vs what we generally have, but more frequently

i'd rather hunt 10<creature> vs having a "hunt 10,000 <same creature" quest

Then why don't they do like what Helldivers 2 is doing? Make the BP's never expire and can be done whenever you want as long as you paid for it.

How is a social quest system equal to a Battle Pass? All the person was saying is MH:Wilds could bring out small BP's that require you to hunt certain monsters or capture so many or collect an amount of some rare resource or something. Only that BP doesn't expire and can be done at the players own leisure as long as they payed for it.

i never brought up a battle pass, that was some other guy.

i was just saying i would rather not have community quests, cause it relies on the community doing them and if they feel like "i dont wanna fight ten thousand frogs" then i get nothing

vs if it was just a personal quest to hunt it 10 times, then it's entirely upon me if i get it or not
