the only dumb reason i read is that eric´s voice is too high and people calling him a trans person
And apparently nata comes across as a bit of a sook in the english localisation
Japan is known as the golden standard for VA for a reason, they've been doing this ♥♥♥♥ for like 40-years now and built an industry exclusively on it.
Full Metal Alchemist, Dragon Ball, Gears of War, Halo, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands 2, GTA 5, etc. Why do you think those things are revered for their VA's? Because they did amazing work in their roles, lol.
Most English VA's don't reach that level. I do prefer English VA's when I can get quality ones though. Final Fantasy X, FF XIII, Kingdom Hearts, and a plethora of others I prefer in English.
He sounds a bit different in English but I listened to Japanese one (who’s voiced by female va) and I think that in both versions he has a feminine, but still clearly male voice.
And?
I personally disagree with it. English voice acting was quite bad until early 2000s but since 2010s it’s on par with Japanese voice acting and sometimes even better. Compare for example games like FFXIV, imo English voice acting in it is much better and distinct than Japanese version.
It is almost always American when they say "English". I never touch the "English" voice setting in a Japanese game because I know it will be the worst kind of yankie-doodle ear-rape imaginable.
I bet the French don't have to deal with Quebecois in games. I bet the Spanish don't have to listen to Mexican. So why should we British folks have to put up with every allegedly "English" voice line coming from the land of McDonalds, gun-obsession and morbidly obese maga-cap wearers on mobility scooters?
Setting aside your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ racism, plenty of games use British VA's as their VA's, whether that be as British English or American English.
if i have a choice i just auto click joponese lul
and this folks is a meltdown
Nah, it really isn't. And this is all subjective to begin with. Still, I guarantee if there was a poll out, at least 70% of people would think the JP for XIV is better.
Edit: and re-read my post you quoted, I edited it. I like both, it just depends on what thing I'm playing/watching.
