PSA: Put up new Pop-Up Camps
Getting really tired of spending a few minutes crossing the entire length of the map because the SOS host didn't put down any camps... and the monster gets killed when I'm about 2/3rds of the way there because randoms never Capture. All I end up with is another stain on my Hunter Profile.

There was a bug when you join "SoS Flare Quests" then your camp position get replaces with the host.
I dont know if that fixed yet, but thats one reason people dont bother set up camps.
I genuinely just do no know where the good spots are.

Do not complain about randoms NOT capturing that's sad.

No. The petty murder-hobos who complain about Captures are "sad". Capturing is just common sense precisely because of situations like this. Capture = everyone gets some. Kill = being a self-centred, lazy little prick... and my profile suffers the consequences too.

If you show up for the last 30 seconds of a hunt and contribute nothing then you should get nothing.

Well excuuuuse me for not being able to TELEPORT and not immediately being dropped on the monster like every other Monster Hunter game has done in High Rank.
I only join hunts that are less than 5 minutes in as it is. If someone can take the monster down in under 5 minutes and they can't be bothered to spread out their pop-up camps then they might as well have not fired the SOS. They clearly didn't want anyone joining the fight.
Dont tell me how to live my life.

I just set them up in "Safe" locations if I find any. Some are hidden away so I did some exploring.
It's only mildly annoying if you can just autopilot with reasonable speed tho

I think the issue is that the game doesn't quite encourage you to explore. You always know where to find everything pretty much. No quests where you have to search for something with no clues etc like older games.

Im not gonna spend ressources on a feature i dont even use myself
No. You will walk, the monster will be killed and you will miss out on carves if you're slow. If it were up to me your Seikhret would be impounded and you would make the journey barefoot or while crawling.

This is true. Most of my idle exploration was to uncover the full map and gather resources.

That is unfortunately true.
And about the only thing that is NOT cluttering the map right from the moment you unlock each zone... are the potential camp spots. You can only spot them on the minimap in the corner once you get close enough.
But I figure it is worth unlocking them. Most monsters tend to have a few select spawn locations and it is worth having camps near those locations because the maps are pretty large.
I wouldn't even say it is important for them to be in "safe" spots. The Zone 13 camp at the Desert Oasis is one of the most useful in the region, but it gets smashed by monsters basically ALL the time. Maybe the one just to the west of it in the dunes would suffice for that though. I've never seen any monster break the west one and they're pretty close together.

Clearly I need to figure out how to make a mod to make my chocobo run faster, because as it stands my current fastest is sometimes not fast enough.

It serves multiple purposes... and besides... what else are you going to spend your points on? Are they even good for anything else?
