Friendly reminder to back up your local save of Monster Hunter Wilds
The folder location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\2018925\2246340\remote\win64_save

I was heavily invested in Monster Hunter World back in the day when I lost 3 months of progress (I had a back up, only it was 3 months old as I got lazy).

I learned my lesson and I back up my mhw weekly if Im playing regularly. I know, I know, either capcom, steam or the devs should be able to handle cloud saves without this ♥♥♥♥ up but until that is a reality, youre better off doing things yourself.

Why couldn't you restore the cloud save?

How does that even happen? Sounds like some bad luck but I've only played World for around 80 hours on Steam so idk. Definitely doesn't sound ideal. Thanks for the warning at least. My userdata folder has tons of folders so I guess I'll just back all of them up.

There is good reason why it is an essential part of the game update routine,

Steam Cloud does not offer versioning.

OH YEAH and to be specific, at the time I didnt knew there was an url you could go BEFORE opening your game to download your cloud saves and compare with local files, so you can keep an spare. Somehow local and cloud saves got messed up. Might have been my fault, it has been too long for me to know
