Is co op playable yet?
Title, can we play with friends yet or do we still have to have invite spam, get wacked by monster and drop connection, run around in circles for 10 mins waiting for friends to show up? All of my friends have quit the game 1/3rd of the way thru the story until this gets fixed.

Yes it is a bit simpler with only one player, wow. it’s still garbage, stupid and intolerable for most of the given reasons

Exactly this thread about how this system works came up hundreds if not thousands of times with monster hunter world and their explanation as to why they did it this way was to make sure the player enjoyed the story experience without it being hindered by other people, they knew people hated the way it worked then and had no intentions of changing it, and clearly still know they knew people despised that way of doing it and chose to do it again, yes it is a very strange way of doing things and makes co-op not a seamless experience but this was capcoms vision and they will never change it.

Story coop sucks. Sure. Big whoop, boo hoo. Oh no you can't coop. Dumbest reason ever to drop the game.

Story isn't that important. Just clear it, meet up at High Rank and start hunting together. If you're ahead of your buddies in story, form a link party and accept invite when they start a story hunt.

Set up Squad
Invite Friends to Squad
Every time you play just join the Squad Lobby
Invite Friends in Lobby to your Link Party
In the menu, go to Link Party > Environmental Link
Congrats, you are all now synchronized and can roam about and always see each other.

For Story, I am not entirely sure the above will resolve your issue, being in a link party will make it easier to join the story fights however. BUT the above will make playing High Rank feel real good.

My fiancee and I played through the story, optional, and event quests together with only 1 or 2 dropped connections. I highly recommend joining a "link party" once you all join a lobby together and then you can join each other once it says "quest started". No need to join through Alma either, if in a link party you can accept quests during other quests as long as you aren't attacked.

That's a horrible design choice that makes zero sense regardless. Can't be that hard to just put players with you in those story missions from the getgo.

Sorry but it is 2025, seamless co op is literally achieved by modders at this point. You have to get through the story to get to the endgame, don’t you? For those of us who bought to play co op with friends the system is not only unacceptable and archaic it’s intolerable. I assumed they had plans to fix this but if they do not I will take it up with my credit card company

Story co-op is bad and wil never be fixed, the same thing happened with Worlds then years later capcom assured everyone it wouldn't be the case with Wilds and they did the same anyway.

Co-op shines with investigations and side missions when the story is done and you don't need everyone to watch 10 min cutscene before playing together.

The connection is fine but the 3 of us are not going to separately run around, engage a monster, run around while invites spam, wait 5 minutes every time for other players to show up lol. The first couple times not a problem but not worth it to continue

I think this is the main problem, I did play Worlds with the same group and we said never again and then they doubled down after lying about this product lol. I will just charge it back, it is what it is

Understandable, she's the same way but for some reason she just really enjoyed smashing the skulls of the poor monsters more than her dislike of the cons. Hopefully you guys have less than 2 hours you can refund it and possibly buy it once it's on sale with future updates.

We went through the same crappy story mode restrictions on World, so maybe that's why it wasn't too much of a pain for her.

As i said, ive not experienced any issues with them, We can join on going quests and can do prolonged expeditions together with the environment links, Connection drops have been pretty much non existant

Your post doesnt mention any way that the system is "crap" just problems you had like connection issues, what actually issue do you have with how the systems work?
