Status feels incredibley strong.
This might be blatantly wrong but in previous monhun games status was never the best way to go having high raw/elemental generally being better. this game makes me think things like poison and paralysis are way stronger than ever before. This might have some bias since the Lala Barina and Nerscylla have been known to offer great status weapons with Lala Barina being borderline overpowered imo.

Of course this is weapon dependent to some extent but i think even the slowest ones make good use of the potent status counterparts over the higher raw ones in this game.

There are some weapons in older gens that induce status ailments like there's no tomorrow (looking at you, Death Prize [paralysis] and Poisonous Battleaxe).

Just that, in the fifth gen, how status ailments affect the monster changed (everyone inflicting the ailment separately instead of together).
But yeah, status weapons can be stupidly strong
lala dual blades are definitely stupid good lol, stacking it with full status crit and a paralyze jewel, had me feeling like i was playing wtih a cheat half the time, especially more so when playing with friends and the monster isnt focusing you so you just build up status

Not exactly. The way status effects worked is that each hit dealt a certain amount of 'status damage' which filled an invisible bar on the monster, once it was full the status proc'd (and the monster got a resistance buff to that effect). So usually it was only worthwhile with a fast weapon like daggers that was going to fill that bar two or three times per hunt, rather than on a slow weapon like the hammer which might never fill that bar in a single hunt.

I suspect they've either nerfed or removed that resistance buff monsters got against effects they'd already had, so it's easier (and therefore more common) if you're using an effect weapon to trigger the status two or three times in the same hunt, whereas in previous entries once you'd triggered it once it was unlikely you'd get time to trigger it again.
Yeah they should make paralyze proc possible only 2, max 3, times per hunt. Like it was in World :sunekosuri:
Coz even stupid deer on Ice Cliffs rams into Magala and paralyze it lol :mhwhappy:

I'm actually glad that status works like it used to. I used to make sure I had a Para, Sleep, Poison, and Blast sets. Then World and Rise l dropped all but Blast. Now I have a Paralysis and Blast, and might add Poison since I hear it's worth using again (Sleep still isn't worth it for sleep bombing imo. I miss my sleep bomber sns set in 4U)
I love playing with statues so I'm glad they are stronger. They were honestly not really worth it in 5th gen and that made me sad. Still used them though

They definitely haven't removed it since Offset Counters is treated like a condition to knock monsters down, and in the patch that dropped Tuesday, they straight up addressed one of the monsters (believe it is Rey Dau) getting stunned too easily because it wasn't building status resistance like its supposed to.
