There would be one way to fix that. If they put those character edit vouchers for sale for a lot of zenny. Dragon's Dogma did it, though it used a more rare ingame currency, but you still never needed to spend a dime. But... I guess with Capcom being greedy, that ain't happening ever. It's gonna be finite character edits unless you're using mods.
