i mean, i guess having two hands would help with that too? but i'm talking about hand holding.
sure
Monster Hunter World had actually interesting characters, other than Handler, who was a fat food obsessed glutten who can be fed to the meat grinder too. Every other character was interesting and enjoyable to listen to and did their roles. Commander, Field Team Leader, The Seeker, The Tracker, Admiral, Third Fleet Master. Even The Huntsman, Serious Handler, and Analystics Director were interesting characters to interact with and do quests with.
Compare that to Wilds... Alma is uninteresting and only exists to give you 'Permission' to fight, basically your secretary/guild lawyer. Forced to have her along, but my god she CONSTANTLY gets in the way and talks too much in the middle of quests!
Gemma should NEVER have been allowed to come near you. She is the Smith, why is she following you around, and joining you on quests, she is literally slacking and not doing her job, and constantly butting into the story!
Nata is just the local plot device, and only exists to push the plot forward. And yet he fails at even doing that most basic thing, as you are CONSTANTLY Side tracked away from getting him to his village CONSTANTLY to fight and kill monsters on the side. He lives, literally like 10 minutes away from the very first starting camp. Once you're into High Rank, and all the maps are open, I'm willing to bet it takes probably 10, maybe MAYBE 20 minutes top to run from the first main camp, all the way to the kid's village. And yet, somehow you have to kill over 20 monsters along the way, constantly backtracking, and getting side tracked constantly. The kid fails at his one and only meaning for existing.
Olivia I actually like. She is serious, she protects the others, she had clear goals and gets the job done as effeciently as she can. The one and only character I like in the entire game.
Erik is a gender fluid idiot, that is either male or female depending on if you have english voices or any other language voices enabled. Looking at a wiki for the Character list, it says they are the "Handler" for Olivia's team, and I don't believe that for a single second, as they made it pretty damn clear through their dialog that they are a researcher of environments and not a lawyer for guild laws, and so insanely stupid they let themselves get caught because "Oh wow, this flower is so pretty, I want to go pick them all!" and 100% didn't die and get eaten because of plot armor.
Werner only exists for 1 plot point in the story, and doesn't exist before or after that point. And Fabius only exists for the "End Game Story" of Gore Magala. Which was extremely boring, uninteresting, and easily forgetable.
Other than Olivia, you can send the rest right into the Meat Grinder. Along with anyone and everyone in Rise.
