for one its not bait the monsters have been weaker and weaker each edition and are not scary and frankly could not harm a simple village you also have no official confirmation that the hunters are descendant from genetically modified people ! little is know about the ancients and you are making wild assumptions !
we have never seen genetic manipulation in the franchise or signs of it ! until wilds!
its much more likely in fan theories that certain humans can tap into the strange energy source on the planet ! refereed to by many different titles and name! bio energy? dragon energy/dragon torch/Chi and the fact that some of the ruined statues look nothing like humans i find it so strange that people think the society fatalis wiped out was the same ancients lol!
but all this silly fan thoeires aside the monsters are piss weak and not scary in the least and i feel like i would win a fist fight with a chapacobra !

funnily enough in the older games you kinda could you could raise a monster and fight them with other hunters like pokemon battles lol just another\ feature lost to the sands of time for things like focus mode lol!
