Is this a single player game?
How much of a single player game is this? Is it designed for mainly co-op, or does it play just fine solo?

We don’t know if there will be sieges, but other than that everything can be soloed in these games.

well im assuming you havent played previous games so it should be similar. basically, story can be done solo, which unlocks features of game. and after you done with it, you can start hunting steroid versions of same monsters, for crafting mats for sets or bragging rights/achievements. whichever you fancy.

but no, you dont really need a group, even if you need one, then there s the matchmaker.

If the last few games are anything to go by, you can complete nearly all content solo.

You should be able to play through the whole game SP. That being said, we don't know if we're gonna have sieges like Jhen Mohran.

Aahhh sieges. The thing the players hate, but Capcom loves for some reason.

Safi and KT were fun.

Like other games in the series, it's likely you can choose to tackle the game solo or go online and find other hunting partners for your quests.

Yes. But it was the non-siege parts of them that were fun. The part where you gotta whittle them down to get to the actual fights were not. But that's just my opinion.

No, it like all other Monster Hunter Games is a co-op game. You have you... and your weapon. That's your co-op partner.

I think monster hunter world has probably the best blend of live service yet still can play whenever you want in offline without miss out on much in gaming.

Hopefully this follows that, I Dredd the day it becomes online only

That's my concern as games designed for online service lose value once they run out of hype and rely on host network.

I thought about this as well, but I also thought I'd be the only one who cares, so I never brought it up. It was good fun, but I also sometimes wonder how fine a line Capcom is willing to walk with such a model.

It's an inherent issue with online service games, as they are either designed for multiplayer or require online service to play. In other terms, these games will not be played ever once player count goes too low or the host provider shuts down servers. Which means you can't just hit these games up 10 years later to play again for nostalgia or whatever.
of course its solo, its even more solo than before with npc hunters joining you if you still want the multiplayer without the -player (or if you fail to find players)

MHW was the only (recent) game that had content designed purely for multiplayer, but even that had an offline update later on that scaled the few optional monsters to solo and kept seasonal event content cycling 24/7

MHW wasnt an mmo either, you just had to connect online to access the event servers. hopefully wilds goes handheld style and lets you download the event content, but im not hopeful honestly

Everything is soloable if you try really hard, but world was designed to be 95% soloable and rise was the first MH game to be 100% designed to be soloable. Wilds will probably be like either of those 2, most likely rise since it's bringing back the NPC companion feature.
