Some monsters are designed around multiplayer tough, but these are very few ( there were only two ot three in Worldborne)
Def it is enjoyable solo now. Its one of the reasons I love it. Like FromSoft Souls games, you can either do it single player or enjoy it almost fully online.
However, I don't recommend doing the harder end-game fights with another person unless they know the fights very well. It's easier to solo Primordial Malzeno than doing it with another person.
Monster HP scales from 1-3 players. With 3 players it has the same amount of HP like with 4 players. So, in terms of HP, it is recommended to play alone, with two players or with four players.
besides, wilds will allow you to call upon NPC AI hunters - and if they're anything like Rise, they're better than 90% of the playerbase - if you don't want to play alone nor put up with randoms.
Multiplayer can remove a lot of monotony of hunting something solo over and over again. You can learn from random players sometimes, see what cool builds they have going on. If the hunt is tough, randoms are more likely to carting all over the place though. Friends on the other hand generally don't have any of the problems that randoms do, and almost always make the hunt objectively easier if they're around your skill level.
Also, I like using mods that adds new moves to monsters, and just stuff that adds more challenge in general, and I don't want to risk ruining the experience of others. Especially now that crossplay exists. How will mods like that even look for people on console? Will it cause their game to crash or will they just get hit by invisible attacks and such?
"Yea its perfectly fun solo"
But honestly MH shines the best when you're playing with a group of friends chatting and laughing when shenanigans ensue.
MH just feels really hollow in a lot of ways when playing alone. I'm sure some like it but its just the game at its best imo.
Easier to position yourself from an attack.
Monster is easier to read.
You don't need to waste a gem slot on Brace (tripped resistance)
Don't have to deal with gunner class. Gunner class and host usually pull the monster and if you are melee player, you ended up playing walking simulator.
I do only multiplayer when I'm bored and that's all.
