Here I am talking about World, but really, a lot of people also liked the more fast paced action that was in Rise, especially with the Sunbreak DLC.
Both World and Rise are VERY cheap right now, so I recommend just picking one of them up and going to town. The reason I think playing solo first is important is because you're proving to yourself that you can handle yourself with that monster fight and you're not being carried. Also, you'll be a better hunter when you do decide to play multiplayer.
The randomness is what make it truly fun. You can show your fashion there and skill there. See people carts always fun from time to time,
Even after playing the entirety of Worldborne with a friend... It's not really an insanely different experience or anything. I wouldn't even say it was worth it until the late-game, once we finally got past all the unskippable cutscenes that you're forced to watch before you can play with other people
You can ♥♥♥♥ around with the people you're playing with (if they're cool with it), if either of you have widespread you can pseudo-support each other... Otherwise, it's just the same game but now the monsters are a bit more unpredictable because they might just switch target when you least expect them to, but they also die faster because you have two or more people out-putting a ton of DPS
I find it's at its best with 1 hunting partner who will build with you, but yeah you can absolutely play and enjoy most of MH solo.
