Anyone having extreme system instability since the open beta?
I had a few issues running the beta, but now my computer is just constantly crashing from any game I try to play and giving me vram errors on crash.

Never had issues like this prior to beta. I think the beta bricked my pc....

Have 9600k and 3070, 32gb of ram

I had extreme system instability before the beta, so nothing changed for me. Maybe your equipment got to run at 100% for the first time in years. It can happen components break because of that. I spent the last 2 months getting my motherboard replaced under warranty after playing Path of Exile on maximum performance.

So in summary I recommend you check your drivers and check your hardware components for malfunction.

thanks, I think rolling back the nvidia driver fixed the issue but I am not 100% sure yet. have to do more extensive testing.

That's not how computers work.
Just go figure out what your issue actually is, it has nothing to do with running a game.

Running a system at full capacity doesn't break it.

Unless you created thermal issues maybe.

You propably just had a bad board and the VRMs crapped themselves.

Pushing a system harder than you have before highlights instabilities that were always there, you just hadn't run into them yet.

CPU bound games are great at highlighting RAM instabilities, for example.

But yeah, motherboards that cheaped out on VRM's + heatsinks can definitely cause issues.

It was the latest nvidia driver. I had installed it during the beta and hadn't played any other game since the beta. Tested extensively and the issue is gone. I wasn't using near the full amount of vram available yet was constantly getting insufficient vram errors in any game I played.

I had wondered if Nvidia was having driver issues, as every person I've seen struggling with the beta had a 3XXX or 4XXX GPU.

It's rough when it happens. Personally I wouldn't update to the latest drivers to play a game unless the game already runs like garbo or it's recommended to play the game. In some cases, like Fortnite, a latest NVIDIA driver can be temporarily incompatible with the game, I had that happen. It's rare, and annoying, but also a thing to keep in mind.
Yeah I never update my gpu drivers.

There's bneen plenty of 'game ready drivers' that screwed things up in the paste
Hikaru Nov 8, 2024 @ 5:23am
yeah I'm not trusting driver updates anymore. nvidia used to have a really good reputation for drivers but this latest one really messed my system up.

Yeah yeah game ready drivers ... ... ...

Same here for AMD Adrenalin 24.10.1. on my 7900XT.
With the old Version 24.8.1. Wilds was constantly crashing while shader compiling at the first gamestart.
24.10.1 did the trick and Wilds was quite smooth but after the beta day after day i encountered quite a few problems like artifacts or problems with brightness or contrast and stuff in several games.
Rolled back to 24.8.1 and everything is fine again.

Adrenalin recommended the new driver the day the beta started but until ereyesterday the driver wasn't even availiable @AMD for me xD
Now it is officially but there will be hell on earth before i install that thing again xDD

@OP
I really hope that fixed everything for you.

[...]
p.s. there are allways driver-versions from time to time causing problems for sveral users.
While the problems you encountered were quite heavy most of the time it's nothing special.
Generally i'm a "never-change-a-running-system"-guy and if Wilds would have been able to start with my old drivers i woudln't even have dreamed of trying a new one, too xDD

7800XT, both updates after 24.8.1 caused me issues in numerous titles.

Still had a couple of crashes but I'm fairly confident it's my RAM settings that I just YOLO'd recently.

My wifes on an even older driver for her 6700XT and had a GREAT experience in the beta, no crashes, ran like a dream.

FYI it was an ROG board. They shouldn't have cheaped out on anything :steammocking:

Oh god, no.. ASUS cheap out ALL THE FRIKKIN TIME. ASUS also rely heavily on doublers so they can run less VRM's to save a couple cents per board.

Which ROG board? Because some are genuinely great, and a bunch are... not.
