Does Lance mains still want to play Lance?
they took away the most important part of Lance gameplay, making it accessible for almost every weapon

I don't understand the direction for Lance in Wilds, does the devs want it to be a defensive weapon? now all guard-capable weapons can do Perfect Guard just fine. does the devs want it to be an offensive weapon? the damage number doesn't show that..

don't know about others but I played Lance in Iceborne because I fell in love with how cool all the counter moves over all the existing weapons...

but Offset Attack is a thing now, I just can't find any reason to play Lance

the new addition Charge Counter is good, but that's kinda it?

Does Lance Mains still want to play Lance?

For me Lance played fine, worked nice as a defensive weapon and a semi offensive weapon, full offense of course is silly.

But i ended up on the gunlance instead because of the nice combos.

Love the clashing htey added also and custom block animations

like worlds the modding community will have to fix lance to make it great again. Check out the new movesets they have for world, they make the weapon a top 3 option instead of a chore to play.

was a ig main in world and rise (played it in 4u but only like 3rd most played weapon). looking at lance, gunlance, or hh as my main this time around after they ruined that weapon though. think i'm leaning more towards gunlance and hh though right now than the lance its self but didn't get time during beta to try out hh.

I mained SA in base World. I mained Lance in Iceborne. I mained SA in Rise.

Neither feels great in Wilds. If I play Wilds in this state, I will just main Long Sword.

Ay another IG main swapping over to GL, did you try bow at all?

i tried bow in 3 when i started playing monhun games, didn't really like it much. then i gave it another try in world since the game was much different from previous titles and i just couldn't get used to the ranged controls being so different from melee.
i think bow looks really cool this time around, and have friends that play it but i won't be likely just 'cus i can't get used to the controls.

As someone who played lance through half of base world and fully throughout iceborne, wilds lance felt completely clunky and slow with not enough improvements to justify making the weapon feel this much worse to play.

I haven't mained lance since like back in MHFU i picked it up from time to time when HH got stale for me and i wanted some thing different.

While it definitely seems to be missing some stuff in Wilds or feels a tad off (specially with the triple poke) i think the changes had the opposite effect for me and it's kinda catching my eye this time around so i might be picking it up as a main again to see how it goes. Just 1 of 3 added to the list of maybe's i suppose to try out if my usual main and off main don't work feel fun to me anymore.

I only use lance. It felt fine to me, better when I put focus mode on toggle and i could tap r1 to snap to the monster. I started Monster Hunter with world. I like rise lance best, it had a reflect skill. wilds has a auto hit on every block

Personally, I like the final combo, it can actually be skipped by simply doing the hop. So the old poke combo(poke+poke+poke+hop) is still preserved.

But I have to say, I didn't like how the power guard works now.
Often, I couldn’t tell if I was just blocking normally or using a power guard, since the glowing effect looks similar if you block right when the monster attacks. Maybe it’s something you get used to, but I preferred the old power guard, It was just more reliable.

Also the pokes feel very precise, too precise, which often leads to many misses even if you are under the monster. I think the hitbox needs some adjustment.

I wasn't as much of a fan of the power guard since I didn't fully understood it's use at points, but I honestly enjoyed playing lance here more than base worlds lance. I haven't touched Icebourne lance because I was bored with it in worlds before Icebourne. So I can't truly say if it's better than that.

I've basically had Lance as my go-to since Tri. I'll have to wait to see release state for a proper opinion but I'm interested in the direction it's been going. It's feeling like less of a defensive weapon and more of an oversized Uno reverse card between counterattacks, block-frames on releasing a chargeable thrust, and clashes.
But what really sealed the deal for me is Seikret jousting. it's not "good" but it was amusing, and I accidentally finished the introductory hunt with one tick of damage from it.

I'm a little happy to have found someone with the same opinion.

Since he changed his mind, I'm also looking for a new boyfriend.
Breaking up is painful, but it's natural. I accept my fate.

Thank you to everyone at Lancer for the wonderful gameplay videos so far.

Not a Lance main, but I've put in a few hundred hunts with it across GU, Worldborne, and Risebreak. Wilds Lance felt amazing to me. The perfect guard counters flowed really well with the poke combos, and focus mode made it extremely mobile. One of my favorite weapons in the beta after SNS and IG

It was terrible compared to MHWorld Lance.

And Lance felt way more mobile in World:
