hot take...locked fps at 30
after testing all settings for 1080p, having fps bounce between 60 to 30 back to 40 bouncing everywhere it f ed the flow and spikes causes choppyness etc all this for med or low, settings didnt seem to matter allot even on high i was getting similar results

so i was like ok clearly game designed for 30fps so lets ride with it
1080p DLAA high locked 30 was soooooo much better then the variable ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of trying to get 60fps, was 30fps ideal no but overall experience was so much better and the image quality improved ALLOT and iam playing on mnk at 30fps it was fine felt responsive no real issue for me
30fps you loose the silky smoothness of 6o+ fps but i was pleasantly surprised at how 30fps played on mnk normally thats defo no go

i think what i liked was the 30fps stayed consistent through out so you get used to it regardless of whats happening,

i havnt tried 1080p DLAA ultra at 30fps, man i wish i did to see difference, on high game looked great especially with added dlaa to improve the native 1080p image

i got old pc amd2700x rtx 2080, so cant complain, this is my back up plan if they dont optimise further for 60fps, might aswell reap all the rewards of 30fps and go all out on visual quality

Interesting, I'll try this when we get the demo and see how it runs.

It might be better than Frame Gen on my wifes system.

Wonder if you could grab a second hand 5700X3D or something to drop into your system, would level it up a whole bunch.

This game is designed to be brute forced by CPU and GPU that comes out 1-2 years after release to get decent framerate. Though if you think about it, PS5 users are mostly playing at 40-50fps or 30fps cap on quality mode. Capping the framerate on PC doesn't sound too bad actually, but for some reason idk why 30fps on PC feels choppier than playing 30fps on console, even when i have perfect flat frametime of 33.33ms all the time (rivatuner). I can play emulator games that are designed to run at 30fps and they look much much better in terms of smoothness, it doesn't make my eyes tired at all.

What surprises me is that Capcom openly aims at 30fps and put it in recommended settings.

More than likely because the combat is frame-specific.

according to xbox game bar fps counter (not sure how accurate it is)
cpu was chilling at 20%-40% use
gpu was on 80%-90%
vram ram 90-98%

i think the vram is the main limiter
my evga 2080 is 8gb
on higher fps the vram gets crushed affecting everything else

dont think upgrading cpu would do much for wilds, defo beneficial for other game tho

I did the following:
1. set my screen(s) refresh rate to 60hz.
2. set the game to native resolution (no FSR/Frame Gen) and prefered settings
3. applied a mod to get the full resolution for all screens
4. locked the game to 30fps

After some small amount of time, i got used to it a lot and the game became just pure fun like in the old days with breathtaking visuals in between.

Not a single framedrop or render issue of the textures. Its a console game at heart, so i play it like a console. No regret here.

Huh the 2080 only has 8GB of VRAM, wow that surprised me. Nvidia really have been cheaping out over the last few years haven't they. I honestly thought it would have 10-12GB.

I know I was CPU bound at 1440p because changing graphics settings made effectively no performance differences at all. 5600x + 7800 XT.

Someone showing the game is CPU bound at even 4k;

But yes, in your case maybe you're actually VRAM limited.

You can be CPU limited even at 20% utilisation. If your GPU can’t reach 99% with uncapped frames then you are most likely CPU bound.

Doesn't the RTX2080 have 11GB of VRAM?

Not sure, but i can say there is a high risc for a CPU or even NVME direct storage bottleneck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIWjgo88_WI

Apparently not, I thought it did too.

I've never seen ultra-wide screenshots on Steam before. Didn't know you could actually upload them like that.

2080 has 8GB - same as 10y old ps4.
2080 Ti has 11GB

Its the native F12 key print by steam, but i think it only works if you have steam UI enabled.

Yeah just like C1REX said, its the TI version with 11GB of VRAM. My bad! did confuse these 2.
