Edit: Concerned about the graphics more than optimization. Even when maxing out the graphics the game just didn't look too good. That being said, graphics and performance are more than likely their #1 priority, so it should be improved.
They improved upon the classic gameplay loop, hopefully they haven't removed Palico restaurants while still letting us unhindered get the strongest meal in the field wherever we want.
I'd say they did me dirty as a Charge Blade enjoyer but all the other weapons I care about are definitely more fun to use in this game.
EDIT: Btw for people that think the game have bad graphics, turn off the upscaling features, and/variable shaders maybe even make sure to activate high res textures if you havent. These things violate your graphics like nothing else, if your computer doesn't slaughter the game without even turning on it's fans the upscaling will mess around with your resolution, ruining all particle effects most noticably. Source: I either ran the game on 60 fps without the ai tools dropping to like 52-55 during the Ray Dau fights or I ran the game at 100 fps with FSR & frame generation but the game looking like it was put through pixelation filters as soon as something with hogging resources happened. Not to mention the insane amounts of ghosting basically making me nauseous
Edit: I played on High but not Ultra.
No worries bud! I do hope the game is improved from this though, with how expensive it is it should be, everyone deserves the time to get to come home after work/school and enjoy their personal time; not a headache.
It was a disappointment.
Blurry washed out graphics, even on Ultra settings without DLSS.
Way too much desaturation and yellow-brownish shaders.
Terrible performance, even on RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7800X3D, 1440p.
I don't get how people think that 50FPS or less (without framegen) is fine?!?
Pretty much a MHW 2.0, but somehow worse.
Will not buy it until I get it on sale, AND performance was improved.
Not turned off it entirely but after this there's absolutely nil chance of me getting it before Denuvo is removed. This was the one game that might've tempted me to break my stance on that, but if they're going to cram Denuvo into it on top of how much the game is already struggling it's going to be an unmitigated nightmare. So, see everyone who's still playing in like 2+ years I guess.
2. Buttslider left
3. don't take 1. and 2. too serious
4. I love the new CE, much more stuff you can do and you can get a good looking hunter this time <3
5. Same as it felt in rise for me, the game is too ez if it's like the beta
I mean if the stats stay the same, you do not need a skillset or a good weapon to rush through the first area. Yes, as starting with mh tri i got much expirience in what and how to do. So i hope they put in fights like alatreon, fatalis, ark tempered velkhana and so on. Actually it feels like using this armor you got to rush through world to get into iceborn.
6. I enjoy the movement much more as in rise, there it was fast and funny but i'm one of these missing the old days where you have to stay to heal so maybe this is just a thing related to me.
7. Together with 5. i hope there will be any kind of grind in the game. I mean you get these vouchers now, i think they will be for layered armor, and many stuff when you complete the quest. So i hope you do not need only killing a monster once and get all. What i want to say is, i want to sink many hours into this game, as i did in world (i got 1400h on ps4 additional).
8. I do not care about the story, not in rise or in world. For me wilds is kinda an mmo and i don't give something about a story. All i care is the gameplay and the feeling i get from that. If i'm interested in a good story i gonna read a book or watch a series or anything.
9. Yes the performance... even if i got no problems playing it on max opts (i got a highend pc), i think they need and have to optimize asap. Otherwhise many ppl will not able to enjoy or even play their game.
10. Some weapons feel a bit less exciting as before. The hammer for example. I hope they got something special left for enhancing that with the expension or so.
I hope they bring back canteens proper, but I think they are since here's a spot in the base camp for it with all the cats getting ready with food. Since there's already the meal system in tents or with the portable grill, I wonder if there will be some new system involved with conventional multiplayer canteens. Might be cool if they have potluck type things where each player in the room/hunt contributes to whatever meal is served.
I hope that there's some player room or housing that they reveal so I have a place to put random earnable trinkets and endemic life. Each map having a base camp rather than there being a central hub area that everyone leaves from means that they may have to do a bunch of work with player housing if there's one in each area, or it may just be that you move the ship between biomes and they put the player housing there.
I didn't mess with it too much, but is the Link Party system supposed to make it so that you can see other players outside of base camp? It would be nice to actually run around maps with friends in between quests and I can't imagine they got rid of that feature, but it wasn't immediately obvious what the system would be for it.
The weapon changes took some getting used to, but in the end I really liked them. I never hated the Clutch Claw like a lot of people did, but the Focus and wound systems seems like the best version of that; it doesn't feel like it's overcentralizes the combat like the clutch claw did with its tenderizing and wallbangs. I love the offset and clash systems; they feel like a great middleground between old MH and the new counter-centric play that stuff like Rise had. As an example, it feels better to time the big uppercut swing on GS, a natural part of its moveset, rather than have to use a specific switch art or silkbind.
I think a lot of my issues with how on-rails the hunts felt are because it's a beta. Investigation levels are obviously back and I think monsters being immediately and permanently revealed on the map will be the result of higher investigation levels rather than a normal fixture. Why else have paint pods?
And they better bring back Monster Hunter language. I've been told that it will be included in the final product, but I'll be on edge until I actually see it.
But immediately I will echo what I've been saying the entire time: In terms of at least difficulty, you can't judge how easy or hard the game will be based on a Low Rank demo and I will die on that hill even if the expansion comes out in a few years time and it ends up being super easy
The biggest selling point of this game, to me, is probably its monster roster first and foremost. It just keeps looking better and better and better and better. Some people on the dev team took the criticisms of Worldborne's boring roster personally and now they're rectifying that by making Wilds have what could be one of the best line-ups in the franchise thus far lol
I didn't get to see much of the Seikret and only played a bit of SnS. Focus mode seems way more fun than clutch claw already though as always with gimmicks like these I'm a bit concerned about how spamny it might be... I already had issues with certain parts of CC and wirebugs being spammy :P
Oh, and performance is also probably the n1 concern, but I'm hoping PS5 performance will be alright
