The beta test for the PC/Deck isn't going well and I think it's okay to say that.
I've been reading the discussions on and off while playing the beta today, and it's disheartening to see people bring up valid complaints while other say "shut up, it's working fine for me."

I'm pretty bummed about this beta. I care VERY little about graphics and frame rate and just want something fun and playable, but how bizarrely awful the performance and visuals in this game are is mind-boggling. I turned off optimization in order to see my character in the character creator and didn't know that menu even had a background. The game CHUGS really bad on Steam Deck. I've played a lot of triple A titles on it without this issue, but MHW is by far the worst-looking game on the system and there is no close second place. It feels like the game runs at 10fps, which makes combat near-impossible, and I still haven't finished the first hunt because it keeps crashing. Even though I'm on Deck, I've seen other people have the same issues on desktop as well. I've seen other screenshots and videos of characters made of just a few polygons with their arms missing and while its (very) funny and it's not quite that bad on Deck, it makes me a little sad.

If the performance issues, frame drops, texture/model rendering, and optimization are anywhere NEAR this bad on release, this game really won't be worth buying. I get that it's a beta, and I don't think the game will be anywhere near this bad when it releases. If I had to guess, the game is gonna be made in full and THEN they'll go back and optimize it before release to address these issues. I just don't want anyone saying that people shouldn't complain because its REALLY bad, and complaints (as long as it stays civil) are how these problems get addressed. I really really love MH, and just want a playable version of it to try out, but I don't think that's gonna happen before February.

Also they changed insect glaive and I'm iffy on it but that's a whole different thing and the smallest issue I have lol.
