Even if you set your resolution to X value and render distance do 100 you will get a lower internal resolution, dont know why they do this.
TAA is so baked into most modern game engines these days and I understand why but developers just don't understand how to use it, FF16 is awful with it, TAA only looks sharp when you are completely stood still, any movement causes blur in a lot of games with it. MSAA is expensive and yes has to be implemented differently with modern engines but it's still so much better, Counter-Strike 2's MSAA is so clean.
In MH Wilds, I need DLSS Balanced + FG to achieve consistent 60+ fps, and the game looks like ♥♥♥♥. Its like its always being rendered at less than 25% of my resolution or something.
But it gets even weirder. Have you noticed how good the game looks in the char creator? It looks clean and sharp like it should, like Rise does. In the main menu as well, also looks good there. Its only when you log in and start playing the game that it suddenly goes potato mode.
Oh and the sharpening setting doesnt do anything either. Game looks exactly the same with 0 or 100 sharpening. Theres clearly something broken with the renderer/options and I pray its just beta things and they fix it by launch because this is unacceptable.
game does look good in the character creator and in the main menu, the real gameplay looks awful tho
I didn't know Rise was made in the RE Engine, that actually just confuses me more as to why Wilds runs and looks so bad
