Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread
We hope you’re all enjoying or will be enjoying Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test while we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the game, there will always be some cases here and there where the game may not function correctly under certain environments and / or hardware combinations.

We’ve set up this troubleshooting and feedback thread for you all to share any technical issues you may be having with the game.

Before providing any reports, please ensure you've followed the steps below to rule out problems with your PC, Steam, or the game’s files:

Troubleshooting Guide

1. Check the game’s system requirements
Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the game, outlined on the bottom of the Steam Store page ; if you do not meet the minimum requirements for the game, this may result in poor framerate, or the game not running.

If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try turning down the graphics settings, if you haven't already. Please note that most graphical settings changes require the game to be restarted in order for the changes to take effect.

If you’re using a multi-GPU setup such as NVIDIA’s SLI or AMD’s Crossfire technologies, we recommend experimenting with disabling these settings, as they may cause compatibility issues with the game.

Capcom does not warrant nor officially provide technical support for PCs that do not meet the official, minimum system requirements, as well as guarantee normal game operations with mobile GPUs, external GPUs, and pre-release builds of Windows OS provided via Windows Insider Program.

2. Add the game’s folder and files to your anti-virus program’s exception / exclusion list
Some launching issues may be attributed to certain Anti-Virus software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error. We recommend users add all of the following files and folders to the Anti-Virus and Firewall exclusion list to prevent this issue. If these files and folders were already added previously, try removing them from the exclusion list and re-adding them.

Note: To quickly access the following folders, press Windows Key + R then copy and paste the folder URL below.

  • MonsterHunterWildsBeta.exe Default Location:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWildsBetatest
  • Steam.exe Default Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
  • Steam AppData Default Location: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Steam

For a guide on adding exceptions to your anti-virus software, please visit one of the following links:
*For Bitdefender, you will need to also add the game’s .exe file to the program’s Whitelist. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open Bitdefender
  2. Go to the Protection tab
  3. Click “View Feature”
  4. Click the gear icon inside the “Advanced Thread Defense” box
  5. Select “Add applications to the whitelist”
  6. Browse and navigate to the .exe file
  7. Once the .exe file is added, close Bitdefender and relaunch the game

3. Give administrator privileges to Steam and the game
Some users can get the game running properly by running Steam.exe in administrator mode. This can be done by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting “Run as administrator.” If that doesn’t work, try running the game’s .exe file in administrator mode as well.

4. Update your Video/Graphics Drivers and Windows Operating System
Try updating your video card drivers, as oftentimes outdated drivers can cause a variety of issues ranging anywhere from in-game graphical problems, to the game not starting, and more.
  • For the latest Nvidia drivers, click here [www.nvidia.com]
  • For the latest AMD drivers, click here [www.amd.com]

Additionally, please ensure that Windows Update has been run and that all the latest updates have been installed on your operating system.

If you still experience issues, you may want to try performing a clean installation of the video driver set. This will remove any extraneous driver DLL files or game profiles that existed with the previous driver installation.

To do a clean video driver install, many enthusiasts use a third-party program called Display Driver Uninstaller [www.guru3d.com] (DDU), which completely removes components that were part of the original driver installation package.
  1. Run DDU and uninstall old video driver
  2. Install the latest OEM video card driver and reboot your PC
  3. Run the latest DirectX installer package[www.microsoft.com]] and reboot your PC
IMPORTANT! Please don't forget to reboot Windows upon completing a video driver installation. This will help reinitialize the driver and the graphics card using the new driver.

5. Check your graphics driver settings & computer power settings
To reiterate, some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom. Laptops with dual GPUs, such as an Intel Integrated Graphics Processor + Nvidia Dedicated Graphics Card, may need additional configuration in the event the integrated processor is overriding the dedicated graphics drivers.

If using a dual Nvidia / Intel GPU, follow these steps:
  1. Install the latest  Intel integrated drivers [www.intel.com]
  2. Reboot your PC
  3. Open Nvidia Control Panel
  4. Click "Manage 3D Settings"
  5. Go to "Program Settings" and then select the game (if it is not in the list you can add it manually by clicking "Add")
  6. Scroll down to "Power Management Mode"
  7. Set it to "Prefer Maximum Performance" / "High Performance Processor" instead of "Adaptive"
  8. Close Nvidia Control Panel and launch the game
If using a dual AMD "Switchable Graphics" GPU, follow these steps:
  1. Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
  2. Under "Switchable Graphics", select the High Performance section and select the game (if it is not in the list you can add it manually by clicking "Browse")
  3. Click "Apply"
  4. Close AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and launch the game
Additionally, double-check your desktop / laptop’s power settings by performing the following:
  1. If using a laptop, ensure the charger is connected
  2. Open Control Panel
  3. Select "Power Options"
  4. Select "Change Plan Settings"
  5. Select "Change advanced power settings"
  6. From within the dropdown menu, select "High performance" and click "Apply" then "OK"
  7. Launch the game

6. Update DirectX
We recommend downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer [www.microsoft.com] to ensure DirectX is fully up to date.

7. Update your Windows Media Player codecs
Certain cutscene segments use video playback which relies on Windows' default Media Player codec.

If you're experiencing video playback issues during cutscenes, please try installing
Microsoft's Media Feature Pack [support.microsoft.com]. Certain Windows editions, particularly in EU territories and Korea, may not have Windows Media Player and its codec preinstalled.

8. Verify the game’s cache in Steam
Try verifying the game's cache in Steam. You can do so by following the steps outlined in this Steam support article (reposted below). This may find missing or damaged files that need to be repaired, even if you've just installed the game. You may also try temporarily disabling your anti-virus while verifying the cache or launching the game, as on occasion anti-virus programs may flag games or the files necessary to play them as a virus.

To verify the game’s cache, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and launch Steam
  2. From the “Library” section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu
  3. Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files...” button
  4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes
Important: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

This process allows the Steam client to scan every single file you downloaded for this game, verify checksum of each, and compare that against the file manifest data on Steam's content server. If the file is missing or has a different checksum value, you will receive a message stating "X files failed to validate and will be reacquired." What this means is that some files have either been deleted, or may have been corrupted. Click “Close,” and Steam will automatically download and / or replace the problematic files.

9. If you are experiencing issues with game stability, please confirm that there are no other applications running at the same time.
"Powerful software like video recording applications can compromise the game's performance and stability by using a lot of CPU, GPU, memory, or I/O bandwidth.
If the game is suffering from performance issues, please close as many applications as possible while playing."

10. If you are experiencing issues with game stability, delete your shader cache files.
As some graphical issues may be caused by damaged shader cache files, you may want to try deleting these files by performing the following:

- For AMD GPUs
  1. Right click on your desktop and open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
  2. Go to “Global Gaming Experience” under “Gaming” and perform “Reset Shader Cache”
  3. Press the Windows key and launch Disk Cleanup
  4. Select your C drive and proceed to “OK” with the "DirectX Shader Cache" checkbox ticked to delete the files
  5. Delete “shader.cache” and “shader.cache2” located in the installation folder containing MonsterHunterWildsBeta.exe
- For NVIDIA GPUs
  1. Right click on your desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Go to “Global Settings” under “Manage 3D Settings” and disable “Shader Cache Size”

11. If you are experiencing crashes caused by insufficient VRAM while performing shader warming, please contact Intel Corporation or the PC vendor.
As your CPU may be damaged in this scenario, we recommend contacting Intel Corporation or your PC vendor.

12. If Frame Generation option is grayed out and cannot be enabled, try the following:
For Windows 10, turn on “GPU scheduling” on your Window system from “Graphics settings” under “Display” in “System” settings.
If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend updating your driver to the latest version.

13. If you experience input delay or performance degradation when using frame generation, please try the following.
In the "Options" menu, select "Display" and set the vertical synchronization to "Disable."

I was playing okay until the oil section of the game, when in either of my characters every time I go into the tent to chage or check my equipment the game crashes. I tried all the troubleshooting listed here and reinstalling the game but it doesn't work. I think my saves may be corrupted
Does anyone know what causes the CSE-03400-AAA-AAAT error?
It looks like a save corruption, last time it happened i redid the game and lost 10h but here i had backups and none of them work even though i know for sure they do, hell i even tried a friend's save and it still pretends its corrupted.
I'm really out of ideas. Help ?

Can't be saved corruption based on what you say. Sounds like file corruption. Verify files. If any come up, replace HDD and back up files.
Please fix that really annoying opted-in Frame Generation crashes. Because of it I just have around 60 FPS without using Frane Generation. 👎
I'm crashing all the time, with or without frame generation. I went through all troubleshooting steps, I really don't know what to do anymore
DLSS frame generation is completely broken. HUD artifcats all over the place, especially white text on transparent layers. FSR doesn't do that.
Updating my bios is what stopped me from crashing
Guys please try these troubleshooting steps out and give me some feedback on it if it works for you, I am trying to create an optimization guide

Why are these issues from beta in the current game still. Should have been fixed when the game came out this is insane.
I'm playing simultaneously with my husband and we've both passed the point where we have finished the Goldenfish fishing subquest, and my husband automatically received both new baits whereas I haven't gotten either, it does not load on my item bar but I can see them on his. We also both have an occasional glitch where it looks like a texture appears on the screen and jitters around the upper right corner, sometimes taking up the whole screen until we ride our seikrets out of the area
The moment you see on troubleshooting steps: try to run the game with admin privileges or add the game to exceptions to antivirus software, and update directx/codecs (that should be part of the first run of the game routines) to try to cover for poor testing/programming... is the moment you see, you should not buy the game for a while, if at all. Especially with this price.
Dear Crapcom, either you fix the game, or you refund everyone who bought the game their money.
1. Releasing a game on launch this broken is criminal! Not only does it looks like you guys did nothing to try to fix the problem, you guys tried to brush it off. As it currently stands with the crappy experience and how broken the game actually is, it's not even worth $30.
2. If you can't fix it now, please withdraw the game from steam, delay it and fix it before releasing. Because no one else should have to experience this rubbish. Because i guarantee you, there are many groups and people out there, raging to bring you guys down because of the way you guys are handling this. People are out there waiting to ddos the crap of out you and break into your systems.
3. Just to give you an idea how bad and broken your crap game really is right now, i was able to play the game for quite a bit except i have crashes all the freaking time. And try and fix the crashes, i changed the frame generation to off in the config file, and now the game won't even launch and just stuck at black screen. And you know what the worse part is, i can mimic this exact problem on a different computer. And currently i have tried everything, and there is no way to fix this.
I have never played a game that is so broken on launch before especially when it has went through beta testing. And honestly, people need to stop defending this, it is unacceptable.
And i have a intel i9 13900k and RTX4080 so my rig is pretty high end.
Drivers all updated to latest, windows latest, reinstalled the game, direct x latest and basically tried everything listed in the troubleshooting thread.
I am done here and really tired from spending hours trying to fix the game. If the game still doesn't work in the next few days, i am getting a refund.

Hello,

My Specs are:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600
Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX ATX AM5 MOBO
Teamgroup 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 RAM
Kingston NV2 2 TB SSD
ASRock OC Formula Radeon RX 6900 XT 16gb GPU
Enermax Revolution 850W 80+ Gold certified PSU

I am having a unique issue where anytime I run the game for 5-10 minutes, my screens just go black and my PC restarts but the display never turns back on unless I manually turn off the pc and turn it on again. In the game, my fps is 120+ and its super smooth, I can run the game fine but for some reason its just crashing my whole pc. When I ran the game with integrated amd graphics, it never had the blackout issue but I just had to play in 6 fps.

I tried all the troubleshooting steps but none worked
