It is said to be better, but you have to watch the cutscnene alone, but it is better than world. but dunno in what way,
Exactly!
Just *a* cutscene, or we still gotta go in alone, roam about, find the monster, watch the cutscene, and only THEN join your friend?
at least from whats been shown so far it gives me the vibes that it will be a lot more natural, ie introducing the monster to you during the story instead of you having to introduce the monster to yourself, it doesnt feel anywhere as lazy as mhw in that regard. So tldr there shouldnt be a moment you're roaming the field alone for no reason again
but we will have to see exactly how seamless it is in coop, as mentioned the devs said its going to be the same that you have to see cutscenes and story beats solo but it will apparently be less annoying this time around, at least to stay connected to your buddies, we still dont know details yet
there is this "hunter link" feature in the beta which i think is how it will work (keeps you in a group no matter where you are or what youre doing), but me and my friend didnt get a chance to test it too much unfortunately due to network issues.
My friend had a funny bug because of it where he was somehow kicked from his own quest and disappeared on his screen while still in the field lol
In the ps5 beta this meant you could accept other quests started by players outside this link party and upon completion be linked back up with your original link party members. This also meant that when leaving the town and entering the open world you'd automatically enter the link parties world, assuming you also linked you environments.
From reading the dev interviews I expect main story quest to work in much the same way, in were if there is any quests/cutscene that requires singleplayer only interaction you'd split up temporarily and then join back with your link party.
As for lobbies it's completely seemless, upon walking into a town form the open area you automatically join an instance full of 15 other players. I would assume it prioritises which intsance of the 100 player lobby based on friends/link members.
