I REALLY hope they will do something about it though
Better to just swap when monster runs and changes areas it's basically just a more convenient weapon swap without needing to return to camp to swap.
Is it though?
You can just buff yourself before engaging.
Swap weapons, and you're good to go.
Unless the buffs stay effective for an extremely short duration. It's not much of an inconvenience.
I’m with Ryozo, a hammer and a 2nd hammer
Honestly I would go for the combo of melee/range weapons, I still don't know which range weapon since I have never liked them but I could give them a try.
secondary to hammer of course, who would i be without hammer?
they mentioned at some point in the dev stream that weapons can have their own specific skill attached to them, and that set bonuses aren't only for specific monsters but also the type of monster, so hopefully you won't be punished too much in this aspect and will have a bit more freedom
Since armor skills remain the same upon swapping (?), bringing two weapons with similar skill tax would work, but bringing a Lance and DB might not have you making best use of every armor skill on both weapons. Still, being able to build around potentially having a "set-up" weapon and a "dps" weapon to switch between sounds like it could result in unique strategies. I'd imagine bringing an Impact CB for stun while being built for elemental damage, so your Elemental CB can dish out damage after impact stuns or breaks parts for better elemental hitzones.
