RE Engine performance concerns
Since the launch of Dragon's Dogma II, we have witnessed major performance issues with Capcom's RE engine. Are these major performance issues planned to be completely resolved at lunch of Monster Hunter Wilds?

Yes. You can find more info here ---> www.whoknows.com.

Monster Hunter probably has a bigger team and budget, so hopefully they can put more time into optimization. That and maybe they won't dedicate 99% of your CPU to calculating the physics and pathfinding of NPCs back in the towns, which was the big Drag of Dogma 2.

Dragon's Dogma made some weird choices with CPU utilization for the NPC AI and pathing, there are plenty of RE engine games that run like butter.

current demo build seems awful, low-res textures everywhere, unstable framerate, crashes, awful pop-in, I hope they wont release it early 2025

the demo is probably a few months old, and we dont know what extend the optimization currently is at.

It prob is the demo we are going to get if they release it on steam.

Graphics look fine, gotta remember they are going with rise graphics again because its on the re engine. Can't have the new game look bad as world did!

I think that's a difference in the PC and console versions (both were at Gamescom) along with the streaming quality being really bad. I've heard from people there that there is a difference, performance wise, between the console version and PC version. Not to say I trust them after DD2, but it does seem to suffer on the consoles heavily. I just gotta hope they learned something from DD2 and optimize the heck outta it.

You are confusing art direction with the engine. The art direction is definitely not Rise which was made for the switch and scaled up a bit when it hit more powerful systems.
This thread aged like fine wine. At this point id rather play silent hill 1, my bad for having a 2-3 year old gpu guess thats not enough for the re engine lmfao

This is so ignorant. DD2 made it clear RE-Engine cannot handle any type of data streaming. Now that evidence is even more undeniable.

After getting duped into buying Dragons Dogma 2 when they knew it was unfinished at launch (& still has many issues - performance, bugged quests, stupid pawn ai, etc) I don't trust Capcom anymore. Given their efficiency with remedying DD2s issues, MHW might be tip top by mid-late 2026

I want to see RE Engine do full co-op in Resident Evil 5 -- that will, in my mind, confirm of condemn the game engine. I'm still convinced multiplayer trips it up, due to its CPU reliance...
