First, it's a good thing you aren't fried! Lol
Anyway to the OP!
Glaive looking fine I think I'll ne playing it! Also hunter horn new moves makes it look much more viable as a solo weapon as well as a group weapon. I am looking forward to it!
Knockign off new insect glaive players for liking a mem and fun to use attack alot. Is ridiciluos, mathiing the fun away forma game is how it dies outside of a speedrun community and thus gets abandoned by devs due to insufficient sales.
Who are you ranting to? Aerial is dead, you don’t bounce up anymore.
Send a letter to Capcom.
I guess I can give credit to IG for making some hunts a free kill, still makes me giggle that an entire flagship was rendered useless by the most worthless playstyle in the entire game
I will also give it credit for using its effective playstyle it did beat out swaxe in overall damage (not including the meme zsd spam build, and even that i question)
Yes, aerial IG was not DPS effective but good IG players still used this as a repositioning tool before setting up a perfect descending thrust.
It was also a really good move on certain match ups like against Teostra/Lunastra and Kushala while they stubornly flew in the air.
Losing this option is not good, it's removing a feature from the weapon.
A feature overused by simpletons from Reddit, sure if you want. But an option nonetheless.
But that's only one part of the issue at large:
You also omitted the fact that we lost the infinite ground combo. So, they also messed up the whole GROUNDED aspect of the glaive and not only the aerial one.
To attack a monster, you will basically HAVE and be forced to get all triple buffs otherwise you're not gonna have a good moveset. While in previous games you could get a red and start to attack only to refresh the buffs periodically.
Triple buffs isn't gonna mean we're back in 4U either because we don't get earplugs at all in this game. Let me guess, we also don't even get flinch free, right?
We also lose immediately all triple buffs by doing a special attack, and guess what, the numbers don't say "the damage is good". No. The damage seems to be too mid.
So doing this attack will make us lose time to get all triple buffs again.
Admittedly, it looks faster than previous games to gather the triple buff, but it's still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ gameplay loop that I'm not interested in.
I don't want to use "the kinsect" more, it's a stupid bug that people could care less about if they're honest about themselves.
I don't want to lose my buffs because I do an attack that does mid damage. Only to re-attack the monster 30sec later.
I don't want to lose an option to reposition myself in the air staying afloat before doing my descending thrust.
I feel this "aerial" nerf is only one of the bad aspects of the weapon rework for Wilds and the rest isn't talked about enough.
Edit: Probably won't have elemental damage be as relevant as with IB's slinger ammo feeding, but that part of IB's Glaive is honestly a tad obscene. Descending Thrust with elemental Kinsects is the optimal playstyle 99% of the time, and I'm saying this as a DT-enthusiast/speedrunner. We'll see whether the Kinsect actually plays a big role in IG's gameplay in Wilds, but I'm optimistic so far.
Remember fast charge blunt Kinsects with Najarala Glaive stunning and cc'ing monsters for days? If the Kinsects finally get their own unique skills again like in pre-World games, then that'd be fantastic; stuff like sharpness restore on red gather, Hero's Shield, Tremor Res (L), Wide Range on buffs, etc. So much potential to be made use of, and it feels like the devs really want IG to return to its roots as a bugstick, whether World-starting players like it or not. We should've gatekept more back then, but the devs have got our backs now!
I guess players like Remi have to actually learn how to play a weapon now, instead of getting carried by such a gimmick.
But IG was the only way to have aerial combat, a weapon that actually feels like a baton/halberd with a cool move set, and the ability to hop into the air to get mounts and reposition yourself. And the damage was good, just watch World IG speedruns, if played correctly it is nice.
They should've got rid of the kinsect altogether. Instead, they stripped the weapon of his identity and move sets, removed key features, and doubled down on the whole "hey hey look look, the insect is here OKAY??"
No, not okay. Now watch people switch to ANY other weapon because of your own stupidity.

I'm not clicking on that lol but I assume it's cuz the gameplay was changed? Maybe you should try it before jumping to conclusions. It's far to late in the development style bow with its release in 2025 to alter the entire style of the weapon.
That was never it's original intent, It use to be quite versatile and allowed for easier mounting. I don't care for the fly stick gameplay, shame they caved to pressure lol
