Insect Glaive might be saved in Wilds
So after eyeing some gameplay from official Capcom PR creators on youtube, I've seen a bunch of Lance/GL/CB/LS footage, but only now spotted some IG gameplay (link below, Bow as secondary weapon).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYogeQ_Klpg

So why might IG be saved in this game? Well, the reddit attack no longer combos into itself in the demo, making it a pure mounting tool. This means that Wilds IG, if nothing changes, will function like MH4U/MHGU IG, and even the last few World-starting reddit attack spammers will drop the weapon once they see that their helicopter can no longer be used more than once per vault, plus it doesn't do damage anyway, for its mounting values seem to be much better now, as it should. Which means, the weapon has returned to its intended state once again, now not even giving redditors the ability to spam aerials, as it should be.

Apparently the infinite combo is gone, and we need triple up to access enhanced attacks? A small price to pay for having the abominable "aerial IG" removed from the game. As for the other moves shown, I like the extract dump nuke that has you soaring with your Kinsect, and it might have some follow-up attack after as well. So far it's looking good, but I hope the focus attacks won't be overly spammable based on how strong they appear.

Edit: I'm loving the reactions online to this needed change. So-called "IG mains" when they have never used the weapon correctly dropping the weapon because they can't do a negative dps attack without any skill expression anymore. Based Capcom dev team, props to you.

No self respecting World IG player used helicopter.

If Glaive needed saving, it was from Rise.

They brought DT back, and bug drill so thats all I needed to see.

I doubt I will main this at launch, but maybe as a secondary weapon.

3 questions I've only played world and rise

1.What's difference between World/Rise and 4U/GU IG function? What is "intended state" for IG in previous title

2.What is reddit attack? (I'm assuming it's the aerial spinning attack once you have all 3 kinsect buff???)

3.People really hate aerial attack that much? if so why? I thought it was fun but it just suck damage wise.
it's not saved, they completely removed the aerial loop

https://youtu.be/54hsJ0Z86sU

watch at 1:20, no more helicopter loop.

That's why it's saved, that's what my post says. It's honestly the best thing to happen to IG ever since World, for no reason, added that, to nobody's liking. The devs have realized that actual IG players don't want this, so they removed it and instead gave us more focus on the Kinsect and an extract dump attack that looks and feels powerful enough to justify using it at the cost of triple up.

Gameplay will be like 4U now: mount if needed to get an opening, or just hit the monster normally if not needed. It's the weapon's whole identity, to be able to get an opening on something like Crimson Fatalis's head, but all of its damage is locked behind grounded attacks.

Watching Wukong gameplay makes me look forward to the more acrobatic staff actions in Wilds.

idk man people are getting upset with the aerial removed, i'm not an IG main but i do use IG regularly, i'm also a grounded IG user but it's no hurt having different choices.

IG is not the only weapon got gutted, CB got SAED is out of the dish too, now you could only do it after an AED, it's so stupid chaining 2 slow moves together like that.

Helicopter mode was trash. Glad it’s gone.
i just hope vortex powder is still there, IG nuke too fun

Spamming aerial moves was never effective, so Im glad they removed that. Honestly IG was the first weapon I picked up in World and it was really underwhelming. Hope they give the weapon more depth in wilds

I'm actually excited to see how this plays out too but the redditor obsession is a bit deranged and weird

Ngl, after playing 4U's IG, I wasn't able to play World's at all.
It was my main in 4U

What do you mean by saving? They want to remove IG off from the game but to cowardly to do. Do remember what IG identity is? A weapon that can do vault attack any time and didn you notice that they give every weapons a vault attack. If every weapons can do vault attack anytime why is IG still here then. Why I wanna use IG weapon when others every weapons are better on the ground in every way can do what IG do. You know what this was also happen to Lance when they add GL a weapon got overshadow by other weapon and forgot by community

IG is called an "Insect GLAIVE", which, for your information is a type of spear.

That's literally its identity.

Its useful for mounting, BUT it hasn't been for the past 3 games: GenU, World, and Rise.
GenU, literally used Aerial SwAxe, mounts like CRAZY.
Lance charge jump, ALSO mounts like crazy.

Its identity has never been "aerial", its literally a weapon that has, and always will have, a jumping ability.

So what you say proof me right that they too coward to remove this weapon from a series because they already has other weapon that can do better jumping attack. Do you know why they add aerial combo in World? It's for set IG apart from other weapons because they add Glider mantle in the game so every weapon can have a jumping ability. And what do you mean it wasn't useful in Rise? Did you forgot how to put monster into Wywern Riding stage ? By use Silkbind attack and do aerial damage and guess what weapon that can do that without waiting for Wirebug to recharge? INSECT GLAIVE.

hey can just use restrictions like they use in Rise by you can use the same move 3 times before you force to hit the ground trade with aerial attack can easily open a wound and bring back Kinsect slash as a Aerial Focus Strike to deal an actual good damage so player choose between stay on a ground for no reason and fly on the air and being fun.

You know what they can just reveal only 13 weapons and has an announcement say "We cut off Insect glaive because it is so trash and we never like them"

Why I want to use Insect glaive on a ground when I can just hop on Seikret and switch to other weapon that can do it better. it have like what? A 13 OF THEM

Because of the different playstyle of the Insect Glaive?
Using the 3 buffs to give you more advantage over the other weapons, like Flinch Free and extra Earplugs (World edition)
2 styles of play: buffed with red and non-buffed.
Different kinsects with different affects/abilities, be it cut or blunt.

They still haven't lost their identity in being the one that can jump.

While Lance is a good mount weapon with a high mount damage, I doubt a lot of people are jumping to mount the monsters when its identity has always been the "stick close to the monster and block with the shield'.

If your issue is that "its an aerial weapon", you're already wrong as it isn't and never was since it came out in 4U.
