Gathering Hub/Arena
GOAT

In MHW the gathering hub wasn't connected to the town so you couldn't interact with players by the blacksmith, botanical etc. I'd spend a lot of time messing around arm wrestling or emoting/stickers with other players it was a great way to interact and get hunter parties going.

Would like to see a larger hub with more players allowed access in the server, possibly more mini games, or multi access to weapon training rooms so players can teach each other how to use weapons.

I always wondered what PvP would be like in this game, there's many different ways it could be implemented. A way i feel could work would be a small arena in the gathering hub where players could ante in with zenny and basically pass time in the hub betting to see who could use traps on other players or use nets/tranq bombs etc. or just overpower with gear.

you can see eachother in the village in rise, i cant assume they wont have the same feature in wilds. I just hope they keep the separated hub and village quests lol

having more things to do in the hub would be cool. maybe they could take the ye olde game that people used to to and have a grilling competition with a monster in an arena, make it an official minigame. Or something idk.

maybe give us more pets to show off to eachother, me and my boi liked to chill with our cohoot sometimes... can we get a halk pet in mainline games? pretty please capcom?

we would have to have people to do this stuff with though.. my hubs have always been empty since a long time now :|

Having a hub like Seliana, Kamura or Elgado would be nice, Astera was only cool visually, it was a nightmare to get around and do things. As for bigger lobbies, if we continue to have SOS be the main focus on MP like in World, then there is zero point to having more than 4 people in one lobby. Lobbies in World were empty for so long because players would just SOS. Now, if Wilds had either no SOS or at least a system like Rise's SOS where you SOS via the specific quest, then sure, larger player lobbies make sense. But World showed that as long as SOS is the main front of MP, bigger player lobbies are pointless.

Bigger lobbies increase player interaction, i join full lobbies in mhw and still run SOS while everyone does whatever. i pretty much only run helping SOS missions unless i group up with whatever the lobby has going on. Otherwise we exchange guild cards, stickers, emotes, and part ways. If we can interact in town with more players thats more info being passed around between players who interact through interests. Same goes for the gathering hub which is a place for players to relax and show off their rewards and stats etc.

Some type of game room in the gathering hub would increase interaction more so, they could add card games, dice games, darts etc. this all gives players something to do while potentially waiting for the rest of their party to ready up.

Adding to all this they could add a barrack/map room where players could warm up and map out an attack or strategy and assign roles/gear etc.

Jumping into a 5 min Fatalis SOS can potentially get the other player killed if their Palico leaves while they wait on you to get there. So being able to have everyone ready and prepared together at the same time eliminates that issue. We dont know what they have planned for elder dragons, they could potentially have world bosses where all players in a lobby have to work together against greater monsters.

Its all speculation, advice, and suggestions... if anything is pointless its me telling someone it is in a thread about a game theyre talking about... i dont think you should go play another game though.

Bigger lobbies literally do not increase player interaction, it doesnt nothing to increase interaction. When World first released on PC, and for three years after the fact, lobbies in world were completely dead, outside of Kulve and Safi. Now, if theyre full much later in the life of the game, great, but during the game actually getting updates, lobbies were completely dead. Arm wrestling isnt not going to draw players together, nor any other little silly minigame. Making SOS not the main push for multiplayer will push for lobbies to be used.
If they push for lobbies being the main hub for multiplayer and NOT SOS, then give me 100 man lobbies like in Frontier. Then throw in things like the carnivals Frontier had for special gear, throw in more seasonal events. But until SOS get's either nerfed or neutered, you will never see lobbies hit full potential during the life of the game.

Even better would be just a big, open village where you see people EVERYWHERE without restrictions.

Like atleast 32 people in one session, that would be amazing.

more players in game = more player interaction

Still play MHW on console and servers were full at launch idk about pc... now theyre on or off usually only Kulve/Safi/Fatalis/Alatreon theres still Event and Guiding Lands lobbies too. wont find Investigation/Tempered/Behemoth/Negigante/Lunastra lobbies anymore tho.

i like how SOSs work in MHW, i usually cancel them after 5 mins so theres no randoms boosting the monsters stats when its nearly broken.

IDK how how rise is, itd be nice to be able to post quests from players rooms too. MHW players had access to each others rooms depending on settings, a cool feature would be allow players to put x amount of mini games in their room to have more players gathering and using them as potential guild halls, different types of training/ready up rooms, or recruiting/barracks for new hunters.

In my opinion, this game shouldn't have gathering hub anymore. Nowadays online hub is so oldies. This game should directly apply Multiplayer Online mechanism so we can meet other players in towns and world map without access to the hub. We can create server room which consist of 4-10 players.
I do agree about PVP, this is a new experience if we get PVP feature. We can versus other players in different server.

In a gathering hub/safe area(s), I agree, it would be cool.

But I would never want to participate in a hunt with 32 other players, because:
1. It would be a huge clusterf***, I probably would be unable to understand
what is going on half the time;
2. Balance would be an issue, as the monster HP will have to scale and so would the damage. Just no.

i always like how maps were sectioned off into areas in specific biomes, an open world would be interesting, idk how well it would work. Some games have opt in co op where if youre nearby other players you can choose to work with each other or part ways.

a large town/gathering area where players can interact with each other, craft weapons, gear, items, traps etc. with some more intractable areas for players to pass time or train/ready up not connected to the open world maps would work better imo.

would like to see how the devs got it worked out, could be multiple large open maps like worlds just expanded. if players could set up camps with limited crafting and such outside of the town in the wilds that would be interesting to see, possibly set up raid camps where you can lure monsters into traps and bombs/artillery etc.

Hub system is genuinely the best way to handle a game like MH, it allows for one well designed central area, and 4-5 visually distinct well made areas. People who want everything in one map dont understand that 90% of games that do this have a bland, empty map, or a small map.

Sieges in World handled it decently, 4 teams of 4 all contributing to a grand total score. However, Frontier did mass quests the best with Raviente. You have 4 squads of 4, and each squad is assigned a specific part. If the part breaks for one group, it breaks for everyone. You do this 5 times in a row and get a large reward pool.

i use to play guild wars 1 back when it first came out, they had a decent system where in towns you can party up with people to try and make it to the next major town/city without having the cluster of people running around the monster zones

Cool, but there's zero purpose to having more than one hub in a MH game, outside of a LR/HR -> MR system. Even then, Frontier didnt even have that with 100 man lobbies.

frontier is a different game and a different genre, its made for troll pvp rust refugees, just because you cant see the value in an idea doesnt mean it has zero purpose, i could say the same for your comment
