Nice strawman there. The opinions expressed by both people are deriding the fact that the new moderation generally takes multiple reports before they look at a post, while the old moderation would look into single reports. Which has nothing to do with what you're saying really.

You misunderstand. You CAN report people you don't like to get them banned, and it's actually even easier to do it now than it ever was in the past because the current moderators suck

The old, volunteer mods occasionally scoured the forums and even partook in discussion sometimes, meanwhile the current mods seem to only respond to mass reporting and they do so mindlessly from what I can tell. On some other forums there are trolls with like 10 alt accounts who will mass report you to get you banned if they don't like you

I've heard the old volunteers had their issues, but they at least did their job better than the current mods. Sometimes I wonder if they're even real, human beings lol

Forums, especially the steam forums are no longer used by normal people for discussion or help. Forums have been entirely co-opted by people looking for attention and validation and will shut down any proper discussion that does occur by baiting or generally saying inflammatory things. The vast majority of steam topics made are either ones made for self interest from an attention seeker or made to bait engagement and awards so they can boost an accounts level from seasonal badges to idle for trading cards to make a profit. This is in fact profitable to some people in some countries.
What I do is block any account that is just a string of numbers or is private on the forums, level 0 accounts and new accounts fit the bill too, they are not interested in long form discussion they are interested in wasting your time, don't give them it and especially don't give them steam awards because you will literally be paying them money to annoy you.
