I've come to say that I don't want any of the characters to be 18 year old girls with lots of ♥♥♥ appeal and an exposed tummy. This is blatant coombait and I do not want it, I know it sells, well it doesn't sell with me. And I just know that we're gonna have to listen to some D- quality personal plotline about all these side characters that I noone will care about with god awful dialogue.

I play Monster Hunter because it is a unique experience, if they're gonna keep diluting it to be designed with the lowest common denominator in mind (which is a ♥♥♥♥♥ teenager) then I'll just keep playing the old games. Count me out, I'll wait until the game's playable and then I'll see if my suspicions are confirmed or not.

I dig the greatsword-drag move though, that's cool.

Then there were the roman gladiators who wore protective armor (leather) on their arms and legs and a loincloth to preserve modesty, but were otherwise bare-chested and very much revealed.

One thing people forget is that every piece of armor slows you down or constricts you in some fashion. Obviously bikini armor isn't always the right choice, but it's also sometimes the right choice depending on the fighter, their style and weight class, and what they're doing.

Fighting a monster that can literally swallow you whole really makes it so heavy armor serves no point: It'd just be an iron coffin the first hit they get on you when it dents and crushes your internals and now you can't even get it off.

Gladiators were like wrestlers. As in they were performers rather than two parties fighting to the death. You weren't supposed to seriously harm your opponent according to your rules. Hence why they didn't really wear much armour.

In Monster Hunter you are hunting monsters that would always have a risk to hit you. Even just simple fabric or hair severally cushions a blow. It's actually believed to be a reason why men evolved to have facial hair. Because a punch or hit to the face does much less damage to the skin when the man has a beard. It actually absorbs a bit of the impact.

For this reason, I think a lot of people intuitively know bare skin isn't practical for a monster hunter profession and would be less immersive. I still think you can have hunters show skin in spite of immersion of course. After all, the Sonic onesie wasn't designed for immersion either.
