Infinite Loading Screen problem
Everytime I load a save it takes me to the loading screen which continues to load the game forever. I have to forcibly close FNV to continue. I had this problem before, I reinstalled the game, started a NEW character and it was fine, until now level 3 and I am just getting out of Primm. Can anyone give me some solutions to the "Infinite Loading Screen" glitch.

Ok, I read that if you start a new game and load a save it should work. It worked successfully, however what can I do to prevent this from happening?

Find your falloutNV save folder and go to properties and uncheck the read only option for the folder, worked for me heard about it off a thread try it out:)

Long loading screens can also be attributed to a large number of save files on the hard drive.

Hey I found the best way to do it is to start a new game then load your game from the new game instead of from the main menu.

There is a workaround and a solution to this problem. The workaround must be done every time you want to load a game from the Main Menu, whereas the solution should work every time without needing to be repeated.

The workaround is to start a New Game, skip the cutscenes and load your desired save file as soon as you wake up at Doc's.

The fix is to navigate to "Documents\My Games\Fallout New Vegas\" and right-click the Saves folder and open properties. Uncheck the Read-Only checkbox and click OK. You'll now be able to load your save games straight from the Main Menu.

Thnx Dax, seems to be working.

This happens so often it's absolutely ridiculous...

For some reason, after I hit Apply and OK, it reverts it back to Read-Only. Any help?

As far as I can tell, the folder read only defaults to selected. I tested it by checking read only for the file, then unchecking on the folder. It unchecked the file too. So apparently it doesn't matter if it reverts to checked on the folder read only, just what is selected on the files. Clear as mud, right?

Haven't tested if it actually affects the game tho. Need sleep first. lol

So, what you're saying is to make sure the actual save games are read-only? because they are not checked as read only, and the problem still occured

EDIT: Just tried removing the read-only through the command console, and it still didn't work

I believ DAX said to Un-Check read only.

And I stated earlier that it was undoing this everytime i clicked apply and ok.
