Can't sit in first Quest
I've already played the game once before so I started a new character. Everything seemed normal until I finished the vigor testor. No matter what I do, it stubbornly refuses to let me sit on the ruined couch (or, for that matter, ANYWHERE) rendering the game unwinnable. What do I do?

It shows E) Sit Ruined Couch, and the text is normal colored, but it just makes a "click" and nothing happens when I press E.

I really don't want to start all over at character creation...

Never had of this issue before but I know what to do.Try the console(~) command EnablePlayerControls hit enter then close console (~) if that does not work then click on your character while in console and then type EnablePlayerControls. This should sovle the problem.

So far as I have seen that should work the best but many who have had the issue found that starting over also worked.

You just may to start over again not that big of a deal really I have created so many character for FONV and FO3 i bet I have spent 5 or 6 hours in character creation.

Too late, I already started a new character.

Also I was moving REALLY slow for some reason, and shift/capslock had no effect.

Have you installed any mods? I had that problem after installing some bad mods.

None whatsoever.

It is a glitch that can occur during certain parts of the game that are actually cut secnes it looks like you are in first person mode but really it is a cut secne that you then gain control of your character of after sometimes you are unable to fully control things it also happens at the beginning of Skyrim when you are supposed to walk up to the chopping block. The glitch occurs rarely and you either restart or you do the console command I posted it is not caused by mods.

The mods you disabled most likely had nothing to do with it and are likely just fine you just precived them to be the cause. If in doubt check your load order with FNVEdit it will spot corrupted mods.

Also if you suspect a mod read though the first two or three pages of comments in its discussion section any common issues will be mentioned as well as how to fix them.

But if that were the case, how come I could still walk around?

Becuase sometimes the glitch completely blocks all control other times it only blocks some control when it should of course give you full control. It is a double whammy becuase you have a cut secne that ends allowing player control but you dont yet have everything yet so you cant actually use the pipboy for example until after doc evaluates you on the couch in fact you tab works you just dont have the scritping for the pipboy yet.

Sometimes the glitch can occur at the grip machine as well.

To me in a game or car or walking on my own two feet if I do not have complete cotrol then I dont really have control do I?

I've had times where I'd attempt to sit in a chair at later points in the game, and the camera would still be zoomable and I could look anywhere or jump, but I could only take one step before I would be completely frozen. The game would run normally, I just could not control my character for many seconds at a time. It wouldnt switch to thirdperson (unless I manually did it) and I could not sit. Even quickload would not fix it, I had to manually load a file that was outside, then quickmove (or maybe exit the game entirely, I never tried).

For the record, I found out the original "can't sit" bug I mentioned in my first post was initiated BEFORE the "grip machine". I can tell because I would walk abnormally slow, and if I tried to jump, I'd take one rapid step right as I landed, only to move slow again.

It does not really matter any point at the beginning of the game inside Doc's house is where you are likely to get the glitch.I have never really heard of it occuring just in the middle of the game but I suppose that it could happen in which case the command will give you control again.

You see the console commnads are actually a tool used for game development so they can test numerous things easily in the game with some games like FONV the Devs allow use of the console by everyone mainly to allow mod makers to test their mods in the game.Of for the casual player console commands can be useful as well. The fact that you have had the bug before and in the middle of the game seems unusal to me as so far as I can tell partial or total lose of control is rare.

Are you also maintaining the same frame rate when this happnes or does that dip considerably? I ask this becuase perhaps you are actually suffering a sudden drop in FPS and in fact have control but the very low frame rate makes it seem like you do not have control.Trust me at 10 or less FPS FONV will be uncontrollable even when the controls are in fact working but the frame rate makes the reaction to input virtually at nil.

The "stuck in chair" glitch is a totally different problem. I first got it in the REPCONN headquarters (the building where you get the Q-35)

No, I've had no frame issues. I can still rotate the camera freely, jump, etc, but as soon as I change my location I take one step and then can't do anything. I can't even bring up my pip-boy. It's like it wants to start the sitting animation but gets stuck in the first frame. Everything else moves normally. I even tried killing myself with grenades but I couldn't move until I changed save files and quickmoved. I didn't try any console commands.

The second time I had the problem was during the vault 11 slideshow. Exact same issue. The video didn't start because it didn't consider me "sitting".
