Console commands working fine too for Skyrim.
"Resurrect 1" when somebody dies who shouldn't die, "moveto player" when somebody gets stuck in a wall or falls into the ground, or the commands to fix a broken quest, and so on and so on. About a dozen or so essential commands to fix something when it goes wrong.
Interestingly enough, the console is opening for commands and working well in Skyrim even though it's not opening up in FNV or Oblivion! 8-0
Thanks for the advice, but I dom't have a game pad. It must be caused by something else.
All the best

1) Disable automatic driver downloads:
- Start menu -> Right click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings (top left) -> Hardware -> Windows Update Drivers Settings -> Select "Never check for drivers when I connect a device." -> OK -> Apply -> OK
2) Disabling Hardware:
- Open Device Manager -> Click View -> Devices by connection -> Click + next to Consumer IR Devices -> Click + next to Microsoft e-home infared tranceiver -> Right-Click and disable 'HID-compilant consumer control device' , all 'HID-compilant device's' and 'HID-compilant mouse'
3) Restarting:
- Just restart your computer.
4) Uninstalling e-home Infared Tranceiver:
- Open Device Manager -> Click the plus next to Human Interface Devices -> Right-click e-home Infared Tranceiver -> Click Uninstall.
5) Restart in safe mode:
- Restart your computer but do it in safe mode (to do this you may have to google it because it is different on all computers)
6) Disabling Consumer IR device:
- Open Device manager in safe mode -> Click System Devices -> Right-Click Consumer IR Devices and DISABLE it.
7) Restarting in normal mode:
- Restart your computer as you would normally, and if you did everything correctly e-home Infared Tranceiver SHOULDNT install automatically.
If that doesnt work try this.
1) Editing ini's:
- Go to Documents -> My Games -> Fallout NV -> Open the 'Fallout' and 'FalloutPrefs' config files then press 'CTRL+F' and search 'console' you should get a code saying bAllowConsole make sure it = 1. Then save and try that.
If that still doesnt work
1) Editing Registry ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW HOW TO EDIT YOUR REGISTRY EDITING THE WRONG THING CAN MAKE WINDOWS MALFUCTION YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK SO PLEASE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I'M NOT LIABLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR WINDOWS INSTALLATION AND HAVE TO REINSTALL WINDOWS AND YOUR GAMES. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY.:
- Go Start -> Run -> type 'regedit' go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SYSTEM-CurrentControlSet-Services-i8042prt-Parameters. There should be 'OverrideKeyboardSubtype' with a type of REG_DWORD and a value of 2. Set the value to 0 by right-clicking and clicking 'Modify' then change the value data. If 'OverrideKeyboardSubtype' doesnt appear on your list then create it by Right-click empty space -> New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value -> Rename it 'OverrideKeyboardSubtype' no 's then reboot.
These instructions should work on windows 8 also. After disabling the microsoft consumer ir device my console now works hope this helps you.
