you've got to be outside of their cell for a certain number of in-game days afaik

I think it's 3 days until restock. Maybe 4. If you really need to offload stuff you can wait that period of time. If you're playing hardcore just be ready to chug a lot of water after. Or you could use a safe storage place, like VIctor's shack in Goodsprings. Just store stuff there and after naturally passing time in a few days fast travel back, pick it up, sell it.

Sell the heaviest stuff first. Once you make it to Gun Runners and can sell to the robot (who has 10,000 caps) it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

yes they will continously get more caps the longer you are away but you should at least stay away for like 4 days i'd say !
But I'm not exaactly shure how long

Unfortunately, even Vendortron isn't great once you're swimming in endgame gear. The best vendors are in the Sink and those machines in Lonesome Road (forgot what they're called).

I often buy weightless items before selling. Ammo for example is a great thing to collect. Most of the time you're actually going to use it anyway at some point.

I will be going to Victor's shack then, this should help :D:

so allowing vendors a 3-4 days break for restock is the norm, understood. Thanks for the tips everyone, its great to see so many replies in a matter of minutes, loving the FO:NV community :)

Ammo has weight of course when you play hardcore mode

I always use it to start. It has a usable bed and a rad free drinking water source (very useful if you're playing hardcore) to have a home (sort of) with those options in it. Plus you can loot the whole place and it's not stealing

There are still weightless items to collect on hardcore mode though, right? I never played it.
