My carry weight suddenly dropped to from 190 to 125... The hell?
So, my character has 4 strength and therefor 190 carry weight. The thing is, ever since I started the Dead Money quest line, my my carry weight took a nose dive down to 125 and I didn't notice until I was really far in. What the hell happened!? My game was already plagued by crashes and load freezes so my guess is my save is just hopelessly corrupted. I don't know. Anyway, do you guys know what I can do to remedy this? Thanks.

There's not any kind of negative effect. My maximun carry weight literally dropped 65 points for no reason. Is there a console command or something I can use?

Yep maybe it is corrupted or it is a effect of the DLC, i dont know i never played that DLC(yet).
Try to search that in the fallout new vegas wiki, google it

If it is a bug, and you want to try to fix it back to normal, you can use this command in the console:

player.setav carryweight #
ex: player.setav carryweight 190

I'd check to see what your current carryweight value is, first. You should be able to check that with "player.getav carryweight" and check the number it's set at. I'm guessing if it is bugged, it'll be changed instead of modified by some amount. No clue, since I haven't had that happen yet. My problem is that the game keeps crashing randomly when I enter/exit buildings.

Mods? Are you using something which changes penalties for crippling, being dehydrated, etc?

That's an interesting drop, because that's a lower carry weight than what you'd have with a strength of 1. It looks to me like something specifically inflicted a 33% carry weight drop, but I don't know what that would be.

Maybe the kind of armor you had on before starting Dead Money raised your stats. Power armor, NCR Courier duster, and some other clothing, chems and foods raise your strength.

Seamoose might have your answer. At the start of Dead Money, you lose all your equipment. If you had armour that increased your strength, you lose it when you start the dlc. Load the last save you had from before starting Dead Money and check the stats of all your equiped armour/clothing.

You cannot go below 160 lbs carry weight (150+(10x<strength>)) without some negative effect. 190 would indeed be the correct limit with 4 strength.

Simply use the console commands from Charley Quinn's post to check your carry weight and fix it if it's actually bugged.

You can go below 60 actually. project nevada rebalances the game in some aspects and reducing the starting weight and strength mod is there

If the OP doesn't mention running mods, always assume vanilla.

I personally run Sawyer's mod, which reduces base carry weight from 150 to 50. My post up there assumed the OP doesn't run mods that change the limits as he had a normal 190 w/ 4S previously.

Maybe you were with increased stengh somehow, maybe by using buffort or some alcoholics, or ... the other possibility is that you became addict to some chems and for not using it you lost some stats.

Actually, I do have mods running. My bad, should have mentioned. I've got Project Nevada, oHUD, and everything else is visual stuff like retextures, better effects, and The Director's Chair.

Well, PN is probably the cause then.

Did you create the character before installing PN? If the guy above me is correct, your carry limit should be lower than 190 w/ 4S when PN is installed.

Alright, so 125 is the correct carry weight for OP's wimpy character.

That's odd. The character was created after I installed Project Nevada. Perhaps the scripts didn't start properly when I created my charter and begining Dead Money refreshed them somehow?
