How do I holster my weapon???

I can't remember what it was, but it is possible and even required at a certain mission. Try holding H for a bit.

The R key only holsters melee weapons, like knives. When i press the R key while having a gun equipped it just realoads the gun. Could someone tell me how to holster guns.

As mentioned above hold "R". Pressing reloads, holding holsters.

Failing that, find somewhere to sit down.

My game was bugged so I rekeyed the command. The default is actually '2' not R but for some reason R also works. I rekeyed to R and to my gaming mouse. Once I did that pressing and holding the reload button holstered my weapon.

I figured this problem out awhile ago. You don't have to rekey the command, instead of pressing R, which reloads the gun, you have to hold down on it.
