Will the Ultimate Edition overwrite the normal edition?
I was thinking about buying the ultimate edition if Fallout New Vegas.

I already own the normal edition, but buying all the DLC's would be more expensive then just buying the UE.

So does anyone know if it'll just overwrite my normal copy, or do i have to earn all achievements all over again? :goblin:

I have a similar problem, but I can't answer your question because Steam won't even let me buy the Ultimate edition. It keeps telling me I already own it, but I don't, I only have the original.
Have you actually tried to buy Ultimate? Will Steam let you?

right click on your fallout new vegas in steam and go to the DLC tab, if there's no DLC or half of it, u prob got to buy the rest of the dlc individually.

I have just purchased ultimate edition while I already owned the vanilla. It shows up as just "Fallout: New Vegas" and shows that I have purchased all the DLC. The file size is around 9gb.

OK, must have done something wrong last time - tried again and purchase went through. I now have all the DLC. :) Thanks.

I have the other version (the one that has forums cluttered with russian) and I can't upgrade to ultimate. It keeps telling me I already own the game :/ Really stupid move on Steam's part.

I just bought ultimate ed too. I did have normal version before and just like you Harvey, it was cheaper to buy this than the dlc's individually. At the moment, my download is stuck at 6.8 gig of 7.7 gig and it still says I have the normal edition on the icon and library.

I am a little concerned now that 9 gig size tho.. I can't see that size on this current download.

It will overwrite the original and just give you the DLC if you don't live in an eastern country.

If you live in any of these countries : RU AM AZ BY EE GE KZ KG LV LT MD TJ TM UZ UA PL CZ SK HU RO you will get a separate gimped and buggy version of the game, worked on by a diferrent developer (1C), and you will have two Fallout New Vegas games in your Steam Library
