What are the differences between Plasma, Laser and Bullet weapons?

I never really understood what set them apart.

Plasma is slow firing, but does more DAM.
Laser is fast, but low DAM.
Guns are over powered.

Guns are affected by your Guns skill, lasers and plasma are affected by the energy weapons skill. Guns are easier to find at the start of the game, so a lot of players pump skill points into guns first.

im not sure which does more damage with both energy weapons and gun skills maxed out. I would say probably energy weapons for damage and regular guns for range. With the exception being a gauss rifle.

every bad guy is differnt i think plasma works good on robots and grass hoppers go down fast with fireso it changes

all of them are fun! i like the hyperbreader alpha.. it will mow down critters easy and you dont need to worry about ammo... also, a fully modified laser rifle+ or (drools) a LAER+ is semi auto and with the scope... and skills perks.. exp... you're doing damage

It depends on where you put your skill points and which perks you select. Assuming you have the same number of points into each weaon type, have a look at the weapon stats for individual weapons. Open your inventory, select a weapon and look at the damage and DPS stats. Also keep in mind you can upgrade most weapons and have a choice of ammo types that also affect damage output, whether or not it penetrates armour and so on.

The thing to do is have fun figuring this stuff out for yourself. So many of these kinds of questions come down to personal preferences. You could do the whole game with only guns or only energy weapons, or whatever, it doesn't matter. What matters is what is fun for you.

Collect up a bunch of stuff, find a place where you can practice and see what works for you.

There are no wrong answers, you are the master of your own experience. Embrace it and then come back in here and educate these folks on what you discovered.

Don't worry about whether other people prefer strawberry over chocolate, give 'em all a taste and choose your own fav.

In this way, you will not only have more fun but you'll be a better player - the kind who understands that your weapons are just tools to help you achieve your goals. You will understand your gear and know when to pull out a specific weapon for a specific challenge.

I find laser 'better' than plasma (in this game anyways) the higher dps with all the perks/dlc to support them just seems that way. Never tried out just guns though
