Vault 22 explosion

How did you start the explosion/survive?

I put mines down between the vents and a spore carier who hadnt seen me yet, then i told my companion to back up strategicly between the mines and the spore carier. i told my companion to wait where i positioned her(the spore carier still idle) and switched her to melee(her weakest attack). i then went close enough to the spore carier to make it get up and start attacking my companion as i ran back to the stairs going up to the next floor. just as i expected the spore carier took out my companion and hit the mines causing the vents to explode. as soon as this happened i entered the door to the next floor and survived.

I left my companions behind, went to the room near the vent where you can close the door to shield yourself from the blast and threw a stick of dynamite at the vent, then closed the door.

Also, if you use energy weapons, you can position yourself and your companions inside the server room. If you fire at the nearest vent from inside the room, you'll be safe from the explosion. it'll still work if you don't use energy weapons, since you don't need any points to fire outside VATS.

ah both those solutions sound much easier, i always make things more difficult then they need to be lol

i left my campanions on level two use droped c4 by vents went into cave and use denator

leaving your companions behind is always the best bet, but sometimes they'll show up anyways. It may only happen if you take the elevator, not sure though.
