Come Fly With Me: Bugged

I recently started playing Fallout: New Vegas and started working on the Come Fly With Me quest. At the stage where I am supposed to retrieve igniting agent and launch consoles for the rockets Chris Haversam disappeared and the quest is not able to be completed. I waited for three days, tried teleporting to him with the console, tried spawning him again and tried resetting the quest. None of these things worked. Can anyone help me? I don't have any saves to go back to, please don't recommend that.

I saw this happen once. Without a prior save you may not be able to complete it. You didnt say if you retrieved the items yet. If you havent go try talking to the old lady at the scrapyard and getting the items and then go back to see if Chris is there.

There is nothing on the fallout wiki, I tried that first, maybe you could read your own link before you tell me to check it.

I did retrieve the items first, and I am not willing to restart my game at this point.

I just can't believe that the console commands for spawning him and teleporting to him just don't work. And even the resetting of the whole quest did nothing but remove it from my pip boy. The actual npcs involved with the quest were not changed at all. The more I play this game the more I am disappointed with the game design. I mean, their console doesn't function. Nobody should release a game in this condition and I am trying to play it years later when bugs like this should have been worked out with patches. I will never understand how people are still fans of the franchise. The original two were just so far from what it has become AND the development team is lazy, what is in this game other than an overinflated marketing budget?

You could assume that with the specifics I've added to my post that I have probably already gone to some lengths to research it before I came here. Your casual dissmissal of my problem with a quick copy paste response offends me whether you had good intentions or not. And the fact that you are still defending your actions really aggravates me even further. The game is doing enough of that at the moment, please know when to stop.

ok, listen, i don't want to cause you more stress than you have, but now you need to understand this...

the people they are there are not here to receive ♥♥♥♥ of the other player because her game don't go well, the people they are here try to help other and some of her have already problem with her game too...,

i know you can be angry because your game give you hard time, but it's not to me to paid for this, you need to control yourself or one day no one will be happy to help if you send her negative post because her help don't help you...

you say i need to assume that you have probably make this or that before, why i need to assume, for me, when i try to help people i think always thie people they try to find help don't know much on computer or other thing and begin by the basic thing, do you thing i can assume all the people they write on this forum have make before...

Gamebryo is full of NPC bugs. I'm really sick of the people who blame Obsidian for it when almost every bug is traceable back to Gamebryo and also happened in Fallout 3. They had 18 months to learn how to use new tools and make a game, and they did a damn good job of it, and if this bug isn't listed on the wiki, it isn't very common (and most likely incredibly uncommon).

Bugs like this happen in Skyrim too.

If you try spawning people with the console, instead just moving an existing person, it will reset their scripts. It sounds like with your use of the console you managed to reset the entire quest, and have most likely broken it completely as the NPCs are still running later scripts. You reset it for you, not for them.

You could try SetStage to the last stage of the quest and try interacting with the rocket control panel, and in future refrain from using the console to alter quest scripts without making a save first.

edit: huh, setstage might be a Skyrim command. completequest <quest id> may have been your only choice.

I solved it after a while. The same was happening to me; the radar showed him at the door of the rocket room but there was nobody there. Then, I kept returning to tge place, going up and down the ladder to refresh the area and he finally appeared.

I will not compliment them on something of this quality, and my problem may not be as common as their other bugs that apparently still aren't fixed but they chose to use that system in the first place and release the game in its current condition. And why can't I be complaining about Fallout 3 too? Fallout: NV is basically an expansion and nothing more. And you're right, it only reset the quest for me, but that's exactly what I'm complaining about, the console commands should function more like the skyrim comand. Thank you for your well thought out response.

Daniel, your help is an embarassment. I will not even try to read your comment. Maybe you should just try not helping people if finding a link takes you an hour.

Edit: Special Agent, I kind of assumed my problem was common enough when I first googled it and received a page or so of results from yahoo answers to various forums where people had my exact problem

I solved it after a while. The same was happening to me; the radar showed him at the door of the rocket room but there was nobody there. Then, I kept returning to tge place, going up and down the ladder to refresh the area and he finally appeared.

If anyone is interested I did try this for awhile... I did it in between waiting outside the sewer entrance I waited 4 hours at a time until 3.5 days had passed. He's still not there, though I intend to keep checking as I play.

ok, i will say you the last thing i have found and after i stop to embarrasing you...

in most of the time it's seem this people go to the manny vasgas chamber, for an unknow reason..., so they can be there,

other thing, if you have trying to teleport her in front of you and it's not working it's perharp because they are dead and some death people are out of the game for always after, but you can try to ressurect it whit this command

prid IDPNJ (replace the IDPNJ by ID du NPC), (ENTREE) resurrect (ENTREE) enable...

i wish you to be able to solve your problem...

this just happened to me for the first time after many play throughs. I don't know much about console commands but i was wondering if i could respawn him or something cuz I can't find him after he ran off.

So for anyone that came here looking for answers but still never got any i got him to spawn in you're gonna have to toggle no clip and godmode fly through the wall to the launch room to talk to Jason then tell him "Im already helping chris" then he should spawn back in the room
