Veronica's companion quest

[Gawain]

"I could make you care" is not triggering. I went to Camp McCarren's Terminal building (Yes, double checked the doors), to Nelson, stayed there for minutes, nothing happening. I tried dismissing her, sending her to 188 Trading Post, sending her to the Lucky 38, but still nothing. Is there anyway to I can make this quest start?

Did you try talking to her manually after that? You need three of the triggers to activate the quest, three conversation with her. You may have to actually talk to her through the wheel, if she doesn't automatically initiate conversation.

Did you talk to Hildern at McCarran? That's another trigger at the airport.

Different quest. "Still in the Dark" is the BoS quest line, not Veronica's quest.

Yes, I talked to her using the wheel. She always reacts with "What's up?"
I had the Hildern conversation before having Veronica as a companion.

If it really doesn't start, you can force it with the console. "setstage <base id> 1", where base id is "00145f85". Should add the quest to your log, with the first stage activated.

Oh, and don't put the quotation marks in the console.

Remember to restart the game after using the console, if you care about achievements.

Ok, I'll try that first. I'm trying to do the quests as soon as possible, yes. But some are in pretty illogical order. (i.e. the history-points for Boon.)

You have to wait for her to comment when you are at a trigger. You must be very near the trigger and not just in the area.

I've read somewhere that after latest patch only 2 triggers are needed, and in fact i had only the vault 3 and the camp mccarran ones, then she talked to me about her request.

The Julie Farkas trigger didn't work, and the Gloria Van Graff trigger didn't either.

How long would you have to wait then? I have been standing around Nelson for minutes.

Other companions rarely affect a given companion, unless they occupy the same slot or you have ED-E or Rex when you recruit Arcade.
