Endless Loading Screen
I'm not actually getting any error messages, but the game just gets stuck on loading screens. The pictures and hints change and the roulette wheel's a-spinnin', but nothing's actually happening.

Your save is most likely corrupted. Try loading a previous save. If that works, disable all autosaves, never overwrite saves and only rely on hard saves. Should stop corruptions happening, for the most part.

The save I'm trying to load is a manual save, and it did load once, only to relapse straight back into loading limbo when I tried to fast travel.

Any mod conflicts? Crash at travel is usually caused by autosaving or mods screwing ♥♥♥♥ up.

As I said, try loading a previous hard save.
The only time this happened to me was with a character that used the non-DLC overhaul mod having this issue when the DLC overhaul mod was loaded instead. :P Don't have the save anymore, so not that much of a concern now. :P

This happens to me pretty often, but randomly, with an unmodded game (well, base game+all DLCs, but no other mods). It seems to be just a hang-up in loading, because killing the game and restarting usually gets it to load the next time fine.

Not sure how useful this is to people on other systems, but how I can tell when I've got a problem is by watching the roulette wheel - usually, at it loads, it stutters a bit (I assume as it goes through different loading portions of the save). If it doesn't stutter, I know it's going to hang, and it's confirmed if I ever read the same game tip twice - then I know it's time to Task Manager-Kill the game and restart.

it happened to me too, and fixed this way. When you get stuck in loading screen just ctrl/alt/canc, close NV, restart it and load a previous save. After a previous save has been loaded, you can press esc and load your lastest save. For me it worked all the times i had your problem.

Whenever you get stuck with the infinite load loop, close the game, boot it back up. Then instead of loading your save from the main menu as usual, just start a new game. Skip the intro cinematic and as soon as it goes white (you know as your character starts waking up) pause the game then load the save file you want from the pause menu. Works everytime.
i never really get this problem i used to get it loads on the ps3 version but never on pc dunno why i used to just reload the game.

if you're permanent loading after going in a door or other entrance i've found that it helps if you jump and go through in mid air. It's weird but it works. at least for me.

You revived a year old thread, for a problem that has a permanent and quick fix solution already in place.

If there is a permanent fix then why is it still happening? This kind of bug 2 years after the game is just ♥♥♥♥. There should be no need for mods for this problem. The save function of the game is just broken and should have been fixed along time ago.

Because the fix is provided by the community and you have to get off your ass and install it yourself.
Rhea Nov 25, 2015 @ 10:17pm
there should be no need the game should not be broken and no need for mods just to play the BASE game not modded
Ladez Nov 25, 2015 @ 10:19pm
I don't disagree with that. But the unfortunate truth of the matter is that the game has not been in development for several years. If you're among the unlucky few who experience issues, you have to turn to the community for help. Yelling on the forum about it gets you no-where.
The fix that worked for me was to load the game via the "Load" tab in the main menu rather than using the "Continue" tab.
